muzzle brake
great purchase
No rust!
My only disappointment with this brake is that the bayonet lug is missing. Otherwise it is a fine addition to my rifle. Changed the point of impact dramatically. It does reduce felt recoil. Having sent only five rounds through the brake, I need to practice with it more to see if I can keep shots subsequent to the first on target more easily. I'll edit this review once I've answered that question.
Settled down the recoil
I've got this on my Springfield standard M1A. Fits on my rifle just fine, turned that recoil down to 3 from a 7, and it looks good. The timing with the set screw was off a bit so I can't get it in the recess of the castle nut however the set screw it like extra insurance tighten the castlenut to proper and it'll be fine. Other reviews stated that it was rusty and rusts quickly, my experience with the piece was it came with one small spot with rust. I cleaned and protected it with CLP end of my rusty woes. That was 8 months ago. Also congrats on owning an M1A. I haven't cleaned mine since I put this on it still runs no problems at all!
Smooth recoil
I originally bought this product to give my M1A a different look. I had it installed at my local gun range by a professional gunsmith, shot a few rounds down range just to try this muzzle break, and I can say that it took away the edge of the recoil and made it smoother.I would highly recommend it for all M1A/M14 owners
Best Brake I've ever seen
Reduces muzzle climb to Nil. A felt reduction in recoil. I noticed an improvement in accuracy immediately. This is the best brake for the m14/m1a I have seen.
Great Product
Installed in minutes. Installed using only castle nut pliers, No allignment tool needed. Works as described, reducing recoil and muzzle flip.
Great Product
Easy to intsall. Intsalled it on my Chicom M14. Recoil feels like a 5.56 mm.
VERY DISAPPOINTED
Highly disappointed!! The muzzle brake I recieved had large amounts of rust on one side, enough that the bag it came in was stained orange. Also there are some scratches. Much like one of the other reviews on this brake mine is also a 2 piece design, both pieces have alignment marks and they are not properly aligned. My biggest issue is the large amount of rust, like it sat in water. Will exchange this one and see how the second one looks.
Disappointing
Unlike the Good Iron Muzzle Break for the M1 Garand this is a two piece unit that is not clear from the description, or pictures, on the web site. The unit I received had already begun to rust at the point where the rear mount and the break connect. The finish was scratched, dented, and overall the finish was poor. Perhaps worse than the rust and the finish was that the rear mount and the break were not properly aligned. I didn't break out the protractor to figure out exactly how far, but looking at it from the rear, the break was rotated clockwise 1 to 2 degrees. The interesting thing is that there are alignment marks on both pieces that were apparently not used during assembly. I may have been able to correct the alignment; but with the rust and the poor finish, including burrs and incomplete machining of several of the ports, I returned it.
