SHOTGUN RECEIVER MOUNT PICATINNY RAIL Reviews & Ratings
Installed on Maverick 88
I had to drill and tap the receiver on my shotgun which I've never done before but I took my time and triple checked everything making sure the receiver was dead nuts level and lined up on my drill press before I drilled the first hole. I used a #28 drill bit and an 8-40 taper tap and Tap Magic lube. I am far from a gunsmith so how did I find my center line on the receiver you may ask...on the 88 there are 13 very fine grooves on top of the receiver I counted 6 from the left and 6 from the right the middle one lined up perfectly center at least to my eye. Then I measured 2 inches back on the receiver if you look inside the aluminum is a lot thicker there and that's where I drilled my 1st hole. I was nervous doing this even though it's a cheap gun but everything worked out and my rail is solid and lined up nicely. I used blue loctite on the screws then mounted a cheap red dot from Amazon I shot 20 slugs and some Turkey rounds the other day and it hasn't budged. If I can do this you can too because I'm pretty dumb just go slow don't rush it triple check everything before you crank on the bits. Good luck! :-)
EXCELLENT PRODUCT
I bought it for my benelli m2 tactical, the fit was perfect as the quality, ordering from brownells is second to none very prompt service.will recomend them and will continue doing business with them.
Just what I needed
I used this rail for my Mossberg 590 and I didnt need to tap anything on my receiver. There were pre drilled holes already on the top of the receiver and they fit perfectly.
Works as advertised
Not much to it, a rail and 4 screws. I bought this knowing I would have to tap the receiver of my 870 to mount it. The rail looks good on the receiver and holds my Aimpoint in place. The hardest part of the install was finding the tap (my snapon set didn't have it) and making sure that the rail is straight. It required fitting on my gun since it wasn't tapped from the factory. Overall, recommend.
