SEMI DROP-IN BARRELS FOR S&W M&P

SEMI DROP-IN BARRELS FOR S&W M&P Reviews & Ratings

The Apex Grade Semi Drop-In Barrel for the S&W M&P is available in either a 5.00' or 4.25' option. The stainless steel barrel features a 1:10' twist rate. The design increases accuracy performance, making the M&P capable of shooting as small as a 1-1/2 inch grouping at 25 yards. Accuracy test results based on using a mechanical rest. Final results may vary based on shooter ability, ammunition selection, and variations in factory firearm tolerances.

Direct drop-in replacement of factory barrel. Improves accuracy and optimal performance is seen with bullet weights of 115 gr. Through 147gr. Using 9mm jacketed ammunition. Due to variations in factory slide tolerances, slight fitting may be required and is easily performed by the end user.We recommend the use of the 6' #0 Narrow Pillar File, 191-400-760, for installation of the barrels. Patent Pending.

Awesome accuracy improvement
I replaced the stock Barrel on my M&P Pro CORE that had about 6000 rounds through it. I used to shoot action pistol competitively but now I am just a once a week range shooter. I thought a was just becoming a worse shot, but my other M&P handguns with WAY less rounds were still accurate so I decided to give this a try. It fixed my accuracy issues. I thought that i had gotten lucky with the "drop in" as no work had to be done on the sides of the barrel at all. It dropped right in nice and tight. But man i had to remove a ton of material from the bottom "shoe" of the barrel to get it so that I could operate the slide reliably. I then took it to the range and after it warmed up I was still having issues so I had to remove more material, but it was accurate for sure. If you can shoot a handgun with any basic amount of skill you can get 1" groups at ten yards easily with this barrel. Overall, accuracy improvement alone gets 5+ stars, although mine was a bit more difficult to fit than some of the others i think.

FANTASTIC
If you own a older M&P 9 that shoots a group of rounds that looks like you took your shotgun to the range (like mine did) you need this upgrade. Simple fit . My M&P 9 was a scatter gun . Only fired about 200 rounds through the useless piece of junk because you could NOT hit anything with it . Shooting from 10 yrds. thought I was shooting a Jennings .22 Auto instead of a Smith. Installed this barrel and BANG !!!!! Watch Video from their web site then you will understand. This is the most accurate auto pistol now it is almost UNBELIEVABLE how it shoots . THANKS APEX !!!!!!!

Outstanding product
This is an outstanding barrel. If you need accuracy this is the barrel. First time out, shot a one hole group at 10 yards, the S&W barrel never did that. Thanks APEX and thank you Brownells for great pricing and fast service. The Iceman

Accurate, reliable & not ammo fussy
Had 55,000 through the stock barrel. That gave me a good idea of what the gun was capable of. Fitting took an hour or so because I'm a bit OCD. Fitted it a bit on the tight side as taking more off later was still a possibilty. I'm running a 13# spring though Apex recommends the stock 15# so lube is almost generous. After a few mags to test reliability and warm up, I shot a 10 round group from 25 yards standing 1.25" wide by 3" high. Had called 2 fliers but still couldn't believe the group this barrel shot. I've always had better accuracy results with FMJ's and use 124 gr loaded with 3.8 gr of TiteGroup. 500 rounds later & still very impressed.

Worth the wait
I have a S&W, M&P CORE with a 5" barrel that I've been wanting to like, but just couldn't get it to shoot well. I installed the semi drop-in barrel in my CORE and had positive results. The barrel did not require fitting to the slide or locking block, and upon installation required less than 2lbs of pressure to close the slide into battery. I had some hand loaded 9mm with projectiles from two brands and shot them side by side against the factory barrel at 15 meters. I fired six rounds on each target and discounted any called fliers and measured the remaining five round group. Brand A measured 1.972" with the factory barrel, and 1.168" from the Apex. Brand B measured 2.535" from the factory barrel and 1.837" from the Apex, although the target would suggest I flinched and opened that group up. I called one flier high left, but didn't call the other so I measured the remaining five rounds as a group. Regardless, the Apex improved Brand A's group 40% and Brand B's 27%.
