EGW Savage 10-16 Short Action Flat Back Scope Bases.

Add the versatility of a one-piece Picatinny scope rail to your shotgun with no drilling or tapping. Precision machined from extruded aluminum with Picatinny slot-and-rail spacing that allows fast and simple changes to eye relief, plus great flexibility in scope choice. Drilled to fit the factory scope mount holes on the gun’s receiver. Accepts Picatinny or Weaver scope rings. Lightweight Tactical mounts have a milled center channel for weight reduction. Full-width cross-slots are gauged to MIL-STD 1913 specs to +/-.002". Machined from ultra-rigid, extruded 6061 T6 aluminum. Includes socket head Torx® screws and wrench. EGW recommends 20 inch lbs of torque and a drip of blue loctite for mounting.

Excellent rail for old-style short Savage actions

This base is much better than the scope mounts available when the Savage 10 to 16 4.275" action rifles hit the market over 25 years ago. This replaces a terrible Leupold turn-in hunting mount that used only three of four action screws. It was unstable at the rear and hard to adjust. In contrast, this EGW is excellent in all ways. It's rigid, the rail is long with plenty of placement options, it makes full contact with the receiver, and the dimensions are perfect. The included screws are tough too. The EGW rail rides high versus many old-school bolt action mounts. With a 42mm objective scope I use 0.85" base-to-center low rings and have space to spare.

For older Savage flat rear action

Nice fit for the older flat rear action bridge. Multiple ring cross slots give you plenty of room to position the scope and space out the rings.

EGW scope base review

Excellent quality but design is awful. The scope base itself is very thick and sides of groves are very high. What happens with this design normal scope rings with scope become too high. Using lower scope rings then the scope bell hits the front of base and you are no longer able to adjust eye relief. Actual cut @ 1\2 “ off front of scope base but not able to get proper eye relief because of the height of side of scope base. Good quality but a waste of my money.
