RUST RELEASE

RUST RELEASE Reviews & Ratings

Powerful, rust stripper removes corrosion from steel and other ferrous metals. Gets rid of flash rust in as little as 15 minutes, cleans heavily rusted steel overnight. Environmentally safe formula attacks the rust but won’t hurt the metal underneath, so it’s great for restorations where bead-blasting and repolishing are undesirable. Penetrates dirt and oil, eliminating need for pre-cleaning on most jobs. Safer than traditional acid “pickling” processes. Non-flammable, acid-free, and biodegradable with low toxicity and minimal odor. Easy, one-step process doesn’t require multiple baths or rinses. Use full-strength straight from container, no messy diluting, mixing, or measuring. Re-usable - one gallon cleans up to 325 lbs. of rusty metal. Solution turns black when its rust removal properties have been exhausted. Also great for de-rusting tools, autos, bikes, antiques, lawn furniture, and many other items around the house or shop. SPECS: 1 gal. (128 fl. oz./3.8 liters) plastic jug.

Rust Release does the job!
Used this stuff on a very rusty Model 92 that was frozen shut. 24 hours in the bath and I was able to open the action but lightly tapping on the bolt. No damage to the finish or the parts.

best rust remover
This is the best rust remover I have ever used on anything. I've used it on guns, tools, old antique lanterns, it removes the rust but doesn't damage the steel underneath. it turns black when it is no longer any good but I've found it will still remove rust for awhile after turning black. It removes heavy rust as well as light rust, I've tried other products but this is the best I've ever used.

Super Solution
I do a lot of bluing and don't have time to fool with polishing rusted and pitted guns. Any gun that comes into my shop with rust on it gets 1/2 day in the tank with Rust Release. It not only removes the rust but the old bluing as well saving me time not having to polish the old blue off. This stuff seems to last forever and is easy on the environment and my hands.

This stuff is excellent.
I'm currently using this on two projects. The first is an old 12ga. shotgun that I'm refinishing. It had a lot of rust on it. I soaked the receiver over-nite, scubing off-and-on with a wire brush, and was able to remove all the rust and corrosion. The clean metal was completely unharmed and looks almost brand new. The second project is a Winchester 1886...this rifle is in rough shape. The extractor and firing pin were "stuck" in the bolt. After 24 hours soaking in Rust Release, I was able to completely disassemble the bolt. I have a long way to go restoring this rifle, but I'm sure Rust Release is going to play a big role.

The best rust removal stuff ever
This stuff is wonderful, had an old rusty shotgun that was an family heirloom the customer wanted cleaned up for a wall hanger, Was rusted so bad I thought it would never look acceptable. Soaked it in this stuff and all the rust came off. A good blue job some finish work on the stock and the customer asked if it was a new gun.

Super and safe
I have used Rust Release successfully on firearms and other rusty metal projects. Even worked great on rusty tractor parts that had no protection for decades. Gets rid of rust without any damage to underlying metal, even after soaking for days.

Wonderful product
Because Rust Release doesn't etch the metal, I use it when restoring engraved guns. I don't have to worry about losing detail in the engraving from excessive polishing. It will even take the rust out of the cuts in the engraving. I wish I would have found out about it sooner.

Call It Rustaway!!!
Customer had a Model 1890 Winchester that had been left in the trunk of a car on fire. Gun remained in trunk for three days after fireman had drenched it with their hoses. Gun had not been damaged by the fire but was covered with rust inside and out. After soaking the metal over night in Rust Release all signs of rust were gone and I was able to clean, polish, and blue bringing a family heirloom back to life.

Wish Brownell's would make a video..
Had a customer bring in a heavily rusted O/U with rust in close proximity to engraving, etc. Hard to polish without marring the details, so I bought this to kill the rust and take the finish off as well. This killed brown rust, but not the guns original finish, leaving me to hand and machine polish the individual items anyway. And yes, they were left in there over night, so plenty of time was given. Original finish was reduced by about 50%. I won't give this product a bad review because it does just what the name says. However, I wish this product included a video example like most of the other items on Brownell's to show the exact level of use that could be expected from the product. In my experience, use this product to throw in a pair of rusty Channel Lock's, but if you're going to refinish firearms, expect to hand polish after soaking them with this product. Also, do yourself a favor and buy the long fiber glass container to soak your items in.
