RUGER® MARK SERIES "SHADOW" PICATINNY RAIL Reviews & Ratings
Gives me more versatility than the factory mount
Gives me more versatility than the factory mount as it takes picatinny rings. Fits fine, leaves a bit of a lip under each side, but the part of the base that is radiused fits the frame perfectly.
Installed on Mark IV 22/45
Installs easy, but strongly recommend going heavy on the loctite (similar to front sight post on the Ruger Mark series). It tends to loosen up while shooting. Mounted a Romeo5 on my Mark IV with this, and other than the screws backing up a bit, it worked wonderful. Went heavy on the loctite to see if that resolves the issue, but it fits really well on the 22/45 (non-lite version) and holds the red dot really well. As mentioned it does not hang over the barrel, has a cutout for the ejection port, and fits well. Zero issues with casings ejecting during a 300 round range session.
Just right
I replaced an older, non-picatinny rail on my MkII with this, and am happy with it. This rail fit well, was easy to install, and looks good. As mentioned, it doesn't overhang the front of receiver like my old rail did. I'm using it to mount either a pistol scope or a Burris FF3. No problems so far. At first I thought the use of screws instead of allen bolts for mounting was an issue, but realized that allens would be overkill, and probably too easy to over torque. Overall I'm very happy with this upgrade.
