Excellent Quality. Made in U.S.A.
Premium quality tool. Precision ground and polished. Have you ever seen a screwdriver tip made in the United States of America? Here's one. This is not Chinese junk. Quality doesn't get better than this.
Ruger D/A Ejector Driver Set
The bit and driver are high quality and American made. It came with clear instructions and recommendations for proper use. I considered making a bit myself but glad I ordered this set instead. Proper bit size bit, well designed (center pin hole). I would definitely recommend this to a friend or family member.
Ruger D/A Ejector Bit
The bit functions as expected and is well made.
Just what I really needed
I was detail cleaning my Ruger GP100 and found lots of gunk in the ejector chamber. I cleaned it the best I could with cotton swabs and all the while wondering how to remove the ejector for a thorough cleaning. Months later I ran across a video on YouTube showing how it is done, and the special bit required to do it. Eureka! I found the bit at Brownells, where all of the special gun smithing tools are found (along with gun parts). Now I can clean the ejector chamber the proper way.
Excellent purpose built tool.
This tool is much better quality and works a lot better than tools I have made in the past to accomplish the same thing. The material and construction is more than adequate for the intended purpose.
Works on Ruger 454 Alaskan Also !
Worked great on Ruger 454 Alaskan ejector nut. Just use a little heat and remove the nut (left hand threads)
works great once you clean it up
Pertaining to the statement in the specs tab "will NOT fit the Super Redhawk Alaskan" There is nothing different between the 454 Super Redhawks except barrel length. But the one perplexing dilemma in this situation is two fold. First is, you have to be smarter than the ejector bit. Second, you have to be smarter than the center pin too! Ejector bit: if the center pin does not fit in the hole... the hole is small, so clean it out! Mine was half full of debris. I sprayed degreaser inside and gave it some hard taps on the bench and some of the stuff came out. I repeated that several times and also used a pipe cleaner to help remove stuff too. Mine also had burrs inside the hole, so I used a number 47 drill bit to start and then finished with a number 46 to clean out the burrs. If the center pin still doesn't fit in the hole... Center pin: the pin may be slightly mushroomed from recoil. I used a small file to remove the sharp edges from mine so it would fit in the hole. Pretty simple... The center pin is one of the parts that I keep on hand "just in case" since it obviously incurs wear from the recoil. Other than that it works great on both my 454's the 7.5" and the Alaskan. I also called tech support and they will remove the above erroneous statement. Those darn website guys...
If you shoot GP, get this
I had to clean some flashing off mine. Other than that it is right on the money good.
An essential Ruger DA tool
Test fits great, well made, ready to use. The one tool you have to have to totally disassemble a SP101 or GP100. The Redhawk, I think (?) uses the same design. I can think of no way to substitute another tool. Necessary for accessing the ejector, ejector spring, and center pins. Someone mentioned the firing pin plug needing something similar. A good set of spring clip pliers with long tips should do that fairly well.
works fine on new SP101
Was leery of this because of the other review and because I could not see a hole for the center pin rod (it protrudes through and above the ejector retainer). Brownell's tech support answered by questions expeditiously. It does have a hole. You must guide the rod into this nut, gently. The retainer is left-handed thread, and fairly tight on my new SP101. By the bye, the SP101 has evolved in the past few years (mine has the screw-in firing pin bushing) but the schematic for mine is correct as to the cylinder assembly, not that it is too complicated. Now, if Brownell's would provide a snake-eyes nut to just fit the firing pin bushing (it is sort of #10, but the prong holes are round and small), life with the SP101 would be almost easy__especially if I ignore the trigger group.
