HUNTER X-22 BACKPACKER OPTIC MOUNT FOR RUGER® 10/22 TAKEDOWN Reviews & Ratings
Nice with compact red dot
This adapter is a great idea. Well designed and manufactured, it installs easily. The instructions are mostly adequate with a few details missing, but easy enough to figure out.
I topped it off with a CT 1300 red dot sight, direct picatinny mount.
I know with a takedown rifle your POI can change if the optic is mounted on the receiver. Mounted to the barrel mount, this shouldn't change at all.
The optic mount that doesn't exist
Works well with the X-22 Backpacker stock. Installed in about 5 minutes. Unfortunately had to buy this item from another vendor. I pre-ordered on April 4th, received an email May 1st these were available. Got my stock, but no mount. Called on May 17th, still couldn't give me an ETA. Went to competitor web site and had it in two days....tried to give Brownells my business. The mount is an awesome addition to the Backpacker stock. I was able to move my optic from on top of the receiver to just ahead of the barrel takedown break. Sighted in a very short time and truly holds zero after takedown.

I like this unit, and expect it to serve me well. I did not like the fact that the openings for the mounting screws were too small for the mounting screw heads. I had to machine the openings to allow the screw heads to pass through so that the screw threads could engage with the barrel threads. Not a major project, but one which should not be required.

Ok, Doesn’t Scream Quality
The device works, is easy to install, but it looks and feels like it may have Asian origins. I like that it’s lightweight. I don’t like that it doesn’t come with its own attachment screws. I ain’t fond of hex head screws used for the top half. It would have likely gotten the 5th star if it had been shipped with barrel attachment screws and torx head screws used throughout.
