RUGER 10/22 50RD MAGAZINE 22LR Reviews & Ratings

Dependable, super-capacity drum magazine lets you shoot 50-round strings of .22 LR ammunition in your 10/22® for plenty of plinking fun. No modifications to rifle needed; simply snaps into the mag well like the standard factory magazine. Tough, impact-resistant polycarbonate body and follower are self-lubricating, so they work with the constant-force spring to deliver smooth, uniform feeding for consistent operation. Smoke-tinted translucent body enables easy visual checks of ammo status. Steel hex screws anchored into brass bushings securely hold the body together to ensure exceptional strength and rigidity, yet are easily removed for disassembly and cleaning.

Awesome product and service
Amazing product. I have also the ar15 version. The only thing is loading it fast enough to shoot. It is well built and fun to shoot without reloading. I will be purchasing more in the near future. Brownells is an awesome company.

Fan of Blackdog
I have used Black Dog 22LR Drums on my S&W M&P 15-22, now I have the same capacity for the Ruger 10/22's. PRO: 50 rounds of 22LR to shoot. They fit on the shelf-hanging-magazine holders with a little forcing. Suspect I can have 3 of these hanging off a shelf per hanger w/o issue. CON: Loading 50 rounds of 22 LR, it's tedious, though with the follower tabs in the drum and releasing the pressure on the spring, the rounds mostly fall in. Gets a little tight nearing the 50 mark. Supposedly the McFadden Machine Lightnin' Grip Loader is supposed to work, have not tested that yet, but would make the process more enjoyable if it does.

Flawless
Wish it had steel lips for longer life. This thing is so easy to load and unload, it makes the banana clips seem difficult. This sweet clip works flawless on my 10-22 ruger charger. leaves plenty of clearance for the bipod to functoion properly. I love this

Excellent!
I was unsure about buying any style of drum after reading reviews about drums from other companies, but this drum works great. Had some minor feeding issues at first but by the third full drum it was working fine. My drum does not like remmington bulk but functions great with Federal copper plated bulk, seems to like CCI blazer the best.

Best of the 1022 drum magazine available
Unquestionably the best drum magazine ever made for the 1022 to date easily surpassing the vintage Sanford-50 and the Pro-Mag drum in overall reliability and ease of loading procedures. The Black Dog utilized the best feature of the Italian made Bingham PPS-50 drum magazine design using dummy cartridges as followers.Works best with any brand of copper plated ammo but not with cheaper Winchester Wildcat ammo due to inconsistent bullet seating.

Not for heavy duty use, fragile
I bought several of these mags as soon as they become available expecting exceptional performance and quality. At first, the mags performed acceptable reliability with solid point CCI ammo. Stingers, forget it. The slightly longer ammo is tight and does not come up freely to feed. After several hundred rounds are fired through these mags, the internal channels start to deform as the rims glide through it and dig in causing the cartridge to get stuck during the process. Black Dog should have just settled for a plain internal wall to avoid this issue. Also, the polymer used appear to be fragile the wall around the retaining screws of the magazine body is all cracked.

Read the Handbook FIRST!!!
I wanted to run this right out of the box, so I grabbed my speed feeder and went to work...NOPE! Apparently, in the small pamphlet that comes with the drum, this is not a "load and go to town" type of device. There's a "special way" to load these (grab the base of the drum, twist, pull back on tower, or something like that). Dear Black Dog Machine: PLEASE make sure to add a slick sheet in big BOLD lettering... "DOES NOT LOAD LIKE A TYPICAL MAGAZINE. PLEASE READ INSTRUCTIONS ON HOW TO LOAD BEFORE USING OUR PRODUCT."

Rounds jamming in feed chamber
On one of the drums (so far) while loading rounds into the feed chamber the rounds would get stuck and not fall out or go into the well as it was supposed to, had to use small screwdriver to dislodge rounds. I hope not to return both drums if I can't get them to load and/or function properly.

Junk!!!!!
I bought this for my dad, after reading all the reviews i could find. It jams about every 6th shot or so. fits loose in the brand new 10/22. the little plastic nub on the clip that goes into the ruger clips release, is under sized and broke off in no time. The fit is very sloppy. Sorry i bought this.
