Great
I actually emailed Brownells about the bad reviews and they said they had sorted the slides and only had good ones now. Mine works great, seems they were telling the truth. Nice machining.
Cant beat it.
Perfect finish, RMR was perfect, love the window and front serrations. The description said it didnt come with a channel liner. But mine clearly had one already installed.
G34 Slide
My slide had rust in the firing pin hole with a little surface rust on outside. I have it right now at Glockstore in Nashville getting refinished and hope no other issues. My first order with Brownells I hope this is just old stock.
Bad batch
Several years ago I bought this rmr in a gen 3 the safety plunger hole had a ring of metal not allowing it to depress. After I spent a lot of time stoning it out it would depress. My recent order of a gen 4 34 slide was the same. Guess I don’t learn well.
Covered in rust
Received the slide and it is covered in rust inside and out, including inside the striker channel. It is obvious it is very old stock nobody checked prior to shipping.
Out of Spec
The safety plunger hole was too shallow to function. Tested three different plungers. Clearly not drilled to spec. The inside of the striker channel also had a healthy amount of rust inside indicating a bad nitride job. The fit and finish did not appear nearly as nice as my other Brownells slides which see regular use. Hoping it was just bad luck this time. Will be returning this one. Ordered another that will hopefully be up to par with the rest.
You get what you pay for
The fit and finish of the slide is nice. I like the front serrations and the overall looks and feel of the slide. This would be a cheaper alternative to upgrade your current slide to a RMR cut instead of sending it out to get cut and wait for weeks for it to get it back. However the safety plunger hole on my slide is not cut deep enough. The safety plunger does not seat all the way down when depressed. I read other reviews and I was not the only one with this issue. Figured I take a chance hoping I don’t get a slide that’s out of spec, sure enough I did. I emailed brownells about the issue and got no response it’s been almost a month.
I took matters into my own hands and decided to shave down the safety plunger so it would seat flush with the slide when depressed. I am happy to say that it worked and shot about 100 rounds with no malfunctions. I wouldn’t recommend this slide unless you’re willing to shave down your safety plunger. Hopefully this helps some of you that may have the same issue
Bad batch
One star in hopes that this gets Brownells attention. I got a blem. The firing pin safety recess must have been cut with a dull tool. I could've returned it but they were out of stock with no idea when more were coming, no alternate product options. I had a machinist clean up the edges of the hole in question and everything works fine now and I am very pleased. Not happy with the response from Brownells.
