Striker channel out of spec
The slide machining and finish looked great.
The slide was completed with a Brownells slide completion kit.
After properly installing the channel liner, striker block, extractor/springs and striker, the striker would stick in the forward position by just pressing it with my fingers ( with and without the striker block installed).
Installed on a factory G19 frame and pressing the trigger it jammed forward to the point of not going into battery when cycled and requiring disassembling the slide to get it off.
Using a sharpie marker, I covered the end of the striker in black and pressed it with my fingers, could easily see one side of the striker it was rubbed completely off from tip back and the other side was untouched except at the most rear 1mm of the head.
The competition kit functioned fine in the factory G19 slide.
Items were returned at the store in Grinnell, IA without issue.
Something is wrong.
I was excited to to receive my slide, I think it is an easy way to get a red dot sight. This was the first time for me to assemble a slide so I was also eager to learn. Everything was going great until it came time to install the extractor. It would not go in. After some help from a friend, I found out the hole for the extractor was not machined, so I sent it back. Very poor QC for something that should be easily checked. Waiting to see how the return process goes.
Better deals else where
If you buy this please note that it doesnt come with the plate or the screws it mount your sight . The screws that come with your sight will NOT work with this slide . If you dont buy the screws from Brownells at 3 $ you can get them at the local hardware 4/40. And good luck trying to find a Allen bit to fit it 1/16 and your torque wrench . Can be found at the auto parts store . Not worth the hassle when others include plate and screws.
Finish is not good
The slide came in and I was excited until I touched it. This thing will catch dirt and look terrible in short order. Its really porous and the slide is rough. I have a few of these in Black Nitride and they are tough and slick. I was excited to get a different color but black is the best by far.
PVD dissapointing
Had to remove quite a bit of material in RMR pocket to fit Red dot. The G26 RMR slide on same order in black was a drop in.
Value but poor finish
I picked this one up for an 80% build. It came wrapped in a saran wrap type of wrapping, heavily oiled. It went into my safe, humidity controlled, for a few months after arriving. Upon finally unwrapping to build, I notice it has surface rust that doesn't seem to rub out, just stains a towel over and over but remains. Its the type of rust that's only visible under a bright, cool color temperature light but when you see it, its obvious. Speckling all over, not a purpled bluing but obvious rust specs. The grip cuts on the side have a pronounced rust color in the 90* angles inside them, a q tip will repeatedly come up a rust color. I planned to cerakote this slide so its not a big deal for me but its pretty meh that something not touched by my hands, obviously oiled well, stored in a safe with numerous other firearms that have zero corrosion issues looks like this new. It honestly looks like the finishing "nitriding" was done on a poorly prepped surface, especially since the "nitriding" looks shallower in the areas where the deep 90% angles are on the grip cuts, where the rust coloring is pronounced the most. If I could only describe it one way its like this: The rust doesn't rub out, its not like a Freedom Group Remington post humid range day towel wipe. Its just there to stay. The item also didn't come with the screws for the RMR and the screws included with the Trijicon RMR are not the same size. I had to order some screws made for a "battleworx" slide since Brownells doesn't sell screws for their own slides! I've made what I feel are quote a few purchases from Brownells over the years, this is my first Brownells name product I can recall. Not particularly impressed. Other than that, works fine. Great for a painting/cerakote project. Not so great if you want an out of the box looker.
Needed some hand fitting.
Good price but its a rough slide. My channel liner went in hard and the rmr cut and rear site dovetail needed some fitting. Im blaming the slide instead of the parts because they fit well in other slides but were too tight to fit onto the slide without some serious filing. It really took the joy out of this for me. For the amount of time Id rather pay for a higher quality slide. Not a bad slide but it does feel chunky and blocky. It does not feel as finished as other slides.
Channel liner issue
Channel liner difficult to install even with a channel liner tool. I broke two when trying to install with little effort. Incredibly frustrating.
