Can't go wrong with the snake
I have a BoreSnake to cover every caliber now. Been impressed with these tools for many years. Simple, safe, and very effective.
Good for a quick touch up
This is great for the range if you are breaking in a new barrel and want to do a bore clean between shots or strings of shots. Or if you want to do a stop gap bore clean before you can get to a full and proper cleaning. The plastic case keeps both the snake and its cleaner/lubricant sealed up in a compact and portable container and away from the rest of your gear. If you have an Otis system you can drag a patch through to pull a bit more residue out if you think you need or want to. It is not a substitute for a full and proper cleaning. But it is a fine way to clean the bore in the field without having to pack a conventional cleaning kit. I used this on a Henry .45-70 Gov't and a Thompson .45ACP and it worked just fine. But, back home for the full clean, there was still a quite a bit of powder residue that needed to be cleared out.
Great cleaning device!
Works like a champ!!! I do agree, however, with a previous reviewer that the plastic storage box it comes in is an extremely nice feature. Got so tired of my boresnake getting tangled with all my other cleaning gear.
Needed something easy for an old Mauser
For a quick bore cleanup I really like the bore snake for my old 71/84 Mauser. I hated to have to hunt down the long cleaning rod (large diameter rod) and the brushes and batches for cleaning when I only fired a few shots. The bore snake worked perfect.
Works great
Only takes a couple passes to go from filthy to beautiful. Love the container it comes with as well that prevents it from becoming a mess. I'll be ordering more in other calibers.

Works well BUT
Cleans the bore quickly and easily and the container is pretty handy. BUT... the handle to pull on the rope ripped off the weight on its first use. I don't know what kind of glue they use in there but its horribly weak. At least i managed to stick it back in and can still use it the old fashioned way.
