Lets you know instantly if a revolver barrel and cylinder are in perfect alignment and if cylinder crane or yoke has been sprung, thus throwing axis of each out of line with axis of barrel bore . . . for timing - “accuracy jobs” . . . locating cause of lead splatter . . . professional service inspections. An excellent tool to use when demonstrating to a customer “why”!The handle with knurled grip end is threaded to take any of the interchangeable heads, with sizes carefully selected to indicate very small misalignments. The .38 caliber heads are available in two diameters, one for Match guns that must be dead on for best performance and one for Service guns which aren’t always thoroughly clean and don’t have to meet quite as fine an accuracy standard. And, there’s a special head for the S&W K-22 which has a slightly undersized bore.

Ranging a Cimarron SAA

I had a .45 Colt Cimarron SAA that I needed to fit a .45ACP to. After confirming the other required measurements were within spec I was left with the question of whether the cylinder was in range. I was easliy able to confirm this with this quality tool.

Perfect for Ruger .45 bore

I was hesitant to purchase because of the other review but needed to verify cylinder to barrel alignment when I fitted a new oversize cylinder latch to my Ruger New Model Blackhawk .45 that is less than a year old. I thought I had a clean bore but this Range Rod made it clear I had a leading problem. After several passes with my Lewis Lead Remover the bore was clean and the range rod worked perfectly.

A tool needed by all Gun Shops

This is the perfect tool for all gun shops whether you do sales, trades or gunsmithing. Any trade taken in should be checked and it does not hurt to check the timing on new guns for they do sometimes come in with a problem. You would not want to be responsible for hurting a customer. Great tool, great quality.
