As solid as a one piece mount can be
Having used many other bases before, it is easy to see why the B.O. base were picked for U.S. military us. Actually, not only can you see the quality, you can feel it. The coating, even on the bottom, is uniform in color and thickness. It is heavy-duty and will outlast the rifle that it is on. It doesn't come with installation instruction, but the manufacturers website has a nice PDF download with tightening instructions and torque specs. Match up with BO rings for the ultimate scope mount setup.

Works as it should
Install was easy, allows for easy installation of scope onto a Rem 700.

Nice fit
Fit to a Remington 700 was as precise as one could ask coming from two manufacturers. There was no gap at either end when test fitting. Finish was pre-scuffed off at edges, either from being thin or bouncing around in shipping. Screws fit as they should. As the saying goes; good enough for government work.

good mount, too expensive...
Excellent mount but one can obtain equal quality using a Brownell brand mount for half the cost..One accurate mount is as good as another and I feel we are paying for the name here...But some just have to do so as I have done before...Steel works good for the tip of type as it won't wear the mount but aluminum is great for the weight savings with a permanent mount ring that won't be removed...I gave it a 3 because of the rediculously high price for this mount....

Not what I thought
The fit was a little sloppy and had to grind the front two screws to stay out of the bolt lugs and barrel threads also did not like the groove down the center of it after all. It appears to be made from good material. But had a bow in the center when putting a straight edge on it, for the money thought it would be better.
