RED ACTION ENHANCEMENT TRIGGER SET FOR S&W M&P SHIELD®

RED ACTION ENHANCEMENT TRIGGER SET FOR S&W M&P SHIELD® Reviews & Ratings

RED ACTION ENHANCEMENT TRIGGER SET FOR S&W M&P SHIELD®

The Shield Action Enhancement Trigger Kit directly replaces the factory hinged trigger with a red anodized, solid aluminum trigger body which reduces pre-travel and over-travel by approximately 20%. It features a smooth face with a center mounted pivoting safety that maintains factory safety values. The center mounted pivoting safety bar prevents unintended operation by creating a trigger block that will not disengage unless the shooter places their finger directly on the trigger face. The Apex Shield Duty/Carry Kit was designed to provide the M&P Shield pistol owner a smooth, consistent trigger pull that is approximately 2 lbs lighter(based on variations in factory tolerances) with the advantages of shorter over-travel and more detectable trigger reset.

The kit itself is engineered to be drop-in and should not require further gunsmithing. However, Armorer or gunsmith installation of the Ultimate Striker Block into the Shield slide is strongly recommended. The Shield Action Enhancement Trigger Only is perfect for use with the M&P Shield already equipped with the apex Shield Duty/Carry Kit. Works with all Smith & Wesson M&P Shield pistols in 9mm and .40 calibers, does not work in the Shield 45.

SPECS:

Kit includes: Red Anodized Aluminum Shield Action Enhancement Trigger, Shield Duty/Carry Kit(Fully machined sear, Ultimate Striker Block, Striker Block Spring, Sear Spring(1/8"), 4lb rated Trigger Return Spring, Trigger Return Spring Installation Shield Slave Pin, Talon Tactical Tool).

Worth every penny
Before purchasing the kit I watched many videos of the install and knew one part I would probably have a problem with and that was getting the trigger bar pinned to the trigger because I do not have one of the gun block tools. Figured out if you use the pin from the factory trigger to line the holes up between the trigger and the trigger bar and tap the apex pin in from the other side its a lot easier than putting it in a vice like I saw in a few videos. All in all the gun is much more enjoyable to shoot. I do not have a lot of range time but from the factory my gun having almost a 7.5lb trigger pull accompanied by the gritty trigger I found myself pulling the gun to the right. Now where ever I aim, thats where the round is going. Ive got a LC9S pro and the apex trigger has made the shield feel very similar to it.

BEST SHIELD UPGRADE!
This is a must if you own an M&P shield and want to get the most out of your gun. what an incredible improvement! this takes a great little gun into an awesome gun thats fun to shoot. Trigger breaks clean, no grittiness, noticeable shorter travel and reset just as described. If you are on the fence about the upgrade, just "pull the trigger" haha you won't regret it. definitely worth the money!

Great investment
Randy Lee has done it again. The only reason I recommend the shield is BECAUSE of this trigger kit. It takes a decent gun and makes it a pleasure to shoot. You need to know what you are doing to make the most of this trigger kit. If you are "good with tools" you get a decent result with the list. But if you have someone who knows what they are doing install it, it will make you smile each time you press the trigger.

A much needed improvement
I bought a new M&P Shield last week. Took it and the wife to the range to test it prior to using it for a daily concealed carry unit. It shot well for me but the trigger was very heavy. My wife did not do well because the trigger was too heavy for her to control. Ordered this trigger (in black) and installed it today. What a change!! I used a Lyman digital trigger pull scale and found that the factory trigger averaged a solid 8+ pounds. During the installation of the trigger return spring I noted that the Apex spring was made of much heavier spring wire that the S&W spring. I chose to keep the factory spring. Completion of the installation gave a very good feeling trigger. I repeated the trigger testing with the scale. My final average of pulls was a very pleasant 3 pound, 12 ounce average. There were no pulls that were much different. I look forward to another trip to the range since I also add a Crimson Trace laser. S&W should be ashamed to ship triggers as bad as this one was. A note of caution. Don't try to install this kit if you do not have a strong sight pusher for removal and reinstallation of the rear sight. If you try to just drive it out with a drift punch you will beat the sight all to hell. It is very tight going both ways. I have installed several other kits and every gun I have touched was this way.

Apex Red Trigger
I mostly wanted this trigger for the looks. But it is definately a high quality trigger kit. It took me about an hour to put the whole thing in. I also put on XS Big Dots since I had the rear sight off any ways. I tried with both the new Apex springs and the stock springs and didn't really notice a difference in the trigger pull. so I just put the Apex ones in. I don't have a way to measure trigger pull but I would say it took off about 2 lbs. There was really nothing wrong with the stock trigger it was great. I just reaaly liked the look of this one.

Be careful you dont destroy
This trigger was very nice out of the package. But when trying to install to the trigger bar, the pin is so hard to push through. I tried using punches. Bent a couple. Tried putting it in a vise. Bent the trigger. I wasted $70. Looking back i could have had more patience but that was one stubborn pin

Good, but....
I bought this on reviews that it would decrease the amount of trigger pull by 2-3 pounds. I have two identical S&W shield 9mms and I bought one kit. I installed the kit as per video instructions and had several differences. My rear sight was much harder to remove and reinstall than the videos showed. The frame parts went in exactly as shown. Once completed, I tried the trigger pull. It was better as far as how the trigger fit my finger, the break was much better. But it did not decrease the trigger pull one bit. I measured the pull on both my original Shield and the shield with the kit and both measured 6lbs. I like the trigger better, but it did not change the amount of pull. I'll order just the trigger for the my other shield.

Installation Nightmare
This is advertised as an easy install but that is entirely misleading - it requires practically disassembling the entire gun. I tried to fully detail all the issues that caused me to have to send my gun back to S&W for repair and reassembly but Brownells "detected profanity" in my text (there was none except in my head!) and would not let me post. So I'll just say DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT.
