First try was excellent
The Parkerizing solution was mixed as per the Brownells instructions. The practice part was a Garand trigger housing and after bead blasting and cleaning it was into the pot. 11 minutes at 195 degrees and out came a "like new" part. After a oil bath and wipe down, it was as good as I had hoped for . I have used the same mixture for many other Garand parts and have had the same excellent results.
Like a magic water remover
Used after parkerizing and the flowing water rinse this stuff almost majically seperates and settles the water off the parts. Lets the parts soak for a couple of minutes and then let them air dry and oil with a good quality gun oil.
Awesome stuff!
I did not have any parkerizing experience prior to using this product, but it worked superbly! As with any finishing product, read the instructions 10 times, then some more, and prep, prep, prep. I parkerized several home built AK's including barrel and other components, and then usually KG Gunkote'd them afterwards. Of course you have to be parkerizing steel (AK blanks are 4130 chromoly steel), NOT stainless steel or aluminum. I haven't yet played around with leaving the items parkerized with an oil after bath. If you are going to paint over the parkerizing, do it immediately afterwards, uncoated parkerizing will flash rust (must oil or paint ASAP). The parkerizing was a nice dark grey, and uniform as well. I did not purchase any of the Brownells "before/after treatments". Do your research outside of the Brownells instructions as well, this will help you to determine what to do after you parkerize, because you aren't quite done at that stage. If you've done your research, you'll realize you have a lot more money to spend on the proper equipment to do the job right. Great stuff!
Very satisfied product and delivery
I ordered the parkerizing solution to restore parts of a vintage Harley I'm restoring. The solution worked great! Had good instructions and was easy to use. I recommend this product
This solution works great!
I used the same batch of Manganese parkerizing solution twice, each time to finish a new carbon steel 1911 slide purchased off the internet. It is critical to follow the instructions carefully - the prep is very important, then use clean gloves to handle the prepared part. The temperature of the solution must be maintained in the recommended range - - I was able to do that manually on a gas grill outdoors. Finish with a hot water rinse, dry the part, and apply your favorite rust preventative. The results are excellent and professional in appearance - an even, smooth, dark surface.
Great Stuff
I purchased this to restore a rather tired WWII Remington-Rand m-1911a1. After following the instructions I was simply amazed at the results! I was so pleased with the ease of use and the results that this product produces, I proceeded to use it to parkerize several projects. The product pays for itself after only one use. I recomend this finish to anyone who whats to refinish a firearm (especially in my humid climate!)
Replacement Nozzles for Spray Grit
The white replacement nozzles for Spray Grit paint cans do NOT work well. They shoot a straight stream instead of a nice spray pattern, These seem to be nothing more than clean out nozzles.
Bore Plugs So-So
Purchased these to re-blue the barrel and cylinder of a .22 cal. revolver. Was not impressed when the plugs were first inserted because not one of them would hold in place. So, their use was scrapped at the git-go. The concept is good but the product needs to be tailored for specific applications/calibers.
