I've used variations of these rifflers for 40 plus years. The ones I purchased recently are by far the most precisely made I've ever seen or used regardless of price. The cutting face comes out to a true knife edge that is uniform throughout the radius. I bought 3 and they are all of the same high quality. Refreshing to see the quality in a product go up now days! Very pleased with how it cleaned up old checkering on a Remington 700 stock I recently refinished. Easy to control and stayed sharp.
Very nice tool
This riffler is easy to control - use the curved portion of the needle file in the middle of the checkering and use the tip near the boarders. Watch the amount of pressure you apply, take it slow, and keep the file angle correct and it'll clean up the checkering nicely!
Wicked Sharp!
Very sharp and precision made. The teeth are so fine I had to use a magnifying glass to see them and sharp enough to slice paper. This riffler compared to the die maker one comes to a sharp edge while the die maker's one has a flat on the V edge. If you only had one checkering tool for touching up checkering this would be it. The only reasons not a 5 is because it's rather expensive but precision tools are. I keep it put away so no one uses it other than for checkering. The handle part is thin too and hard to hold. Perhaps there's a handle they make.
