Reviews Summary
MILITEC-1 OIL receives mixed reviews; it excels as a lubricant and is praised for reducing fouling and dust attraction. However, its claims on rust prevention and cleaning efficiency are questioned, with some users reporting rust issues and needing solvents. Overall, many swear by its performance in harsh environments, but caution against relying on it alone for protection.
What Reviewers Are Saying
Lubrication Performance
80%
Many reviewers laud MILITEC-1 for its superior lubrication capabilities, describing it as smooth, slick, and effective in reducing friction in various firearms. Users highlight notable improvements in weapon reliability and operation, particularly after transitioning from CLP products.
Rust Prevention Claims
65%
A significant number of reviewers express skepticism about MILITEC-1's rust prevention claims, suggesting that it may not effectively protect against corrosion as advertised. Some users report rust occurrences, indicating that while it serves well as a lubricant, it should not be relied upon solely for rust protection.
Application Method
45%
Several reviews mention the specific application process required for optimal effectiveness, which includes heating the oil and properly applying it. Users note that this added step can lead to better results but may be seen as a drawback for those looking for convenience.
Durability in Harsh Conditions
70%
Reviewers often reference their experiences using MILITEC-1 in tough environments, particularly military personnel in Iraq and Afghanistan. The product's ability to withstand dust and dirt buildup while maintaining lubrication is frequently praised, making it a favored choice among users who face challenging conditions.
Cleaning Efficiency
50%
A few users find that MILITEC-1 improves cleaning efficiency by preventing fouling, while others dispute this claim and mention that additional solvents are still necessary for effective cleaning. The divergence in opinions suggests that results may vary based on individual usage and expectations.

Will never use any other lubricant
I've been using Miltec-1 lubricant on all my weapons since I used it for the first time in combat. Love it

Simply the best
I've used about every high quality lubricant o n the market. I stays where you apply it. It holds up under some very wet conditions and doesn't just wash away in the rain.

Lubricant, NOT a Protectant
Product description says lubricant, not protectant - that is accurate. A fiend told me it was also a protectant - it isn't and my gun started to rust. It's a great lubricant (so 5 stars) but don't use it as a protectant. You need to apply a protectant separately.

Best gun oil, won't attract carbon
After testing more than two dozen products, this is the best gun oil I've ever used that doesn't attract dust or carbon, and is the absolute slickest and prevents rust the best. It is a little more involved by applying a layer everywhere metal and heating it to about 110*F with a hair dryer, then wiping off/in excess, but this produces outstanding results.

Another Sandbox Testimony
Others have testified here about using MILITEC-1 on military weapons while deployed to Iraq and other hot, dusty environments. My experience with this product mimics theirs. A little goes a long way, and once it's "cooked on," dust just blows off of it and carbon wipes away from most surfaces with a dry piece of t-shirt. (Even the part of the bolt that the gas tube & carrier key blow right onto is easier to clean later, if you let it sit in the sun after applying MILITEC-1.) The MP unit I rode with in 2005-2006 swore by it and since they insisted that they had never experienced a malfunction with their truck guns (M240/M2/Mk19) or individual weapons, I used it too at their insistence. I only had to discharge my rifle once during that tour, not counting range practice on the FOB; in all instances, I had none of the kinds of hiccups commonly experienced back home on training ranges using CLP and shooting more than 9 to zero & 40 to qualify. In Iraq, the dirtiest my weapon got most days was when I dismounted at the clearing barrels, where we got "moon dust" in everything. No problem, there was always an air compressor running somewhere around the motor pool and that's all it took to get clean enough to move on to other duties with confidence. Someone gave me about a dozen of the 1/2 oz. squirt tubes at some point, and I still have a few reserved for SHTF. Wish we'd had this back in '91! That was a short deployment, but I was with a Bradley unit that just choked out the sky with dust everywhere we went. We were either moving or cleaning stuff to get ready to move all the time. I recall my 11M buddies constantly digging CLP+dust=mud sludge out of weapons during every pause. If I could go back in time and take a few things to those guys, it would be better MREs and MILITEC-1.

Militec is the best
I have used this product for years. I really think it does what is described. It bonds with the metal and creates a very reliable firearm that is also easy to clean.

Works great
Switched from a CLP product to Militec and have noticed a much better reliability of my Ruger MKII rimfire auto-pistols. I use it on all my guns now for lubricating them. For a wipe-down after a day of handling them I use an oily rag
