MATCHKING 6.5MM (0.264") HOLLOW POINT BOAT TAIL RIFLE BULLETS

MATCHKING 6.5MM (0.264") HOLLOW POINT BOAT TAIL RIFLE BULLETS Reviews & Ratings

SIERRA MATCHKING 6.5MM (0.264") HOLLOW POINT BOAT TAIL RIFLE BULLETS

The 6.5mm/.264 inch bore has recently enjoyed a resurgence of interest. Several rifle manufacturers currently produce 6.5x55mm sporters, exposing a new generation of shooters to this famous old Scandinavian service and hunting cartridge. Competitive HighPower and Silhouette shooters have also shown great interest in the 6.5mm bore size.

While they are recognized around the world for record-setting accuracy, MatchKing® and Tipped MatchKing® bullets are not recommended for most hunting applications. Although MatchKing® and Tipped MatchKing® bullets are commonly used for varmint hunting, their design will not provide the same reliable explosive expansion at equivalent velocities in varmints compared to their lightly jacketed Hornet, Blitz or Varminter counterparts.

Sierra matchking
I handload for accuracy, and Sierra matchking gives me that. Have tried others but none have the consistency or accuracy of Sierra. Thank you brownells.

Matchking
Best .264 match bullet going. It’s very consistent. I’ve found it’s not fussy. There are higher B.C bullets out there but you don’t have to constantly chase this one with scope adjustments when conditions change. It’s usually down the middle with just minor tweaks

SMK, what else is there?
Right up there with Lapua and Berger for a lot less money. Concentricity and uniformity needed to shoot into the 4 digits.

One of the Very Best for 6.5 CM
I am a serious handloader who has tried every possible combination of what's available. The 142 SMK is one of the very best bullets on the market for 6.5 CM. Lot to lot consistency is outstanding and it shows in the repeatable performance this item delivers. My best ever with this bullet was a 5 shot 300 yard group measuring in at way under 1 inch (.650) using 43 grains of Staball once I hit a node. While an RPR is a pretty good platform this is outstanding. There are only three other bullets I can think of that match it. The Berger 130 AROTM, Lehigh solid copper match at 119 and the Lapua Scenar L at 136 but all cost the same or more. Many very serious LRP competitors talk this bullet for very good reason. Don't pass them up. They are superior in every way to the 130 TMK which itself is a good choice.

Great Bullets
I use these for target shooting. Ive been very happy with the results. Easy to seat. I have recently been introduced to how to find the best seating depth for my lands and these worked well in my comparator.

RPR Excellence
You have to play with seating depths but once there this bullet is unreal. Today I shot a 5 shot group of .650 inches at 300 yards. That is slightly over one fifth MOA folks. A personal best. Many precision shooters love this bullet. It's easy to see why.

Excellent bullet
I'm using this bullet in my newly built 700 Remington with MDT HS3 chassis system and Bartlein barrel in 6.5x47 Lapua. Shoots tight, one hole group.

Ultra consistent.
Picked these up to compare to the Amax in my .260. Sorry Hornady, but you have some competition here. It's hard to trump 2 holes for 4 shots, but I like the smk profile better, and had better luck past 400 with them. I'll keep a stock of both, but Sierra just took the primary shelf.

Wicked looking bullet, great performance
I have mainly used this bullet for target work. Quarter sized groups at 100 yards out of a pretty well worn Swedish Mauser barrel! I now have a Swede with a mint bore and I'm anxious to do some testing! Also have hunted with it with good results. Hunting buddies say the exit wounds this creates resemble magnum .30 caliber! I have never had one of these fail by flying apart, even at 2800+fps. I can't think of any cons for this bullet, and I believe my statements, above, cover the Pros!

Ideal bullet for XTC in 260 Rem
If you shoot 260 Rem and you want one bullet to shoot all the way across the course then the 123gr SMK is the bullet to shoot. As is the case with all Sierra bullets it is extremely easy to get shooting quick due to its relative insensitivity to jump. Ballsitically this bullet is supperior to the 107gr or 120gr SMK and out to 600yds it will shoot right with the 142gr SMK in wind drift if you look at the numbers. This bullet is a dream in rapids as it takes that sudden wind chagne you get mid string allot better than some others. I have shot this bullet it many XTC matches and MR matches and the points I've dropped have never been the fault of the bullet.
