gun shoots over 12 high at 100 yds now
front sight to low for Winchester 94
Not for a Marlin 336
I agree with the pervious comment by Earl. I installed these sights om a Marlin 336. Installation was fairly straightforward. But the rifle shoots 16 inches high at 50 yards. This may fit a variety of rifles, but it just does not work on a 336. Wasted money
not for a marlin 336
Rear sight was easy to install, Front sight took some machining to clear the barrel band. With the rear sight at the lowest setting the gun was 2 feet high at 25 yards. Wasted time and money. Expected more from a williams product.
Didn't Work
Great low light visibility. Installed a set on my Winchester 94 in 356. Shoots 16" high @ 100 meters with rear sight all the way down. Judging by other's comments this is a common scenario. Wish Williams wouldn't have advertised it for this gun. I would have saved myself a lot of time.
Not enough adjustment available
Tried it on a Marlin 336 and a Winchester model 94. Sight picture and visibility is great! Unfortunately, there's not enough adjustment to get either one of these rifles to hit paper. The front and rear sight heights are made way too far off from each other to get the elevation adjusted correctly. I had to go back to the original sights.
Winchester Model 94 XTR Chambered in 375
I installed the dovetail sight set and was thrilled with the sight picture; the fiber optics really make sight acquisition easy. However, no joy when I took the rifle to the range. I couldn't hit the target at 25 steps...too high. After adjusting the rear sight as low as it would go (i.e. removed the set screw), I just did hit the top of the box to which I had placed a shoot-n-see target. I guess the only option is to raise the front sight, and this will be nothing but a snag in the gun case.
