Excellent for brush guns
I installed these sights on a Marlin 1895 GBL that was produced in their old plant. I am extremely impressed by the improvement in accuracy and sight acquisition speed over the factory sight. Using the smaller aperture, I was easily able to ring the 100-yard 6-inch steel from a standing, off-hand position. I estimate that the improved sight picture has cut my groups by approximately 2/3, and I'm able to make shots much more rapidly. Installation was rapid and simple. I love the design of the filler screw for the unused hole in the front sight - it gives an already excellent product a very finished appearance. I have had zero issues with loosening screws. I recommend ensuring that the holes and screws are clean, and that you give the included loctite time to cure before shooting.
Great Choice
I put this on my "Remliin" 1895 Guide Gun and it was a great choice. They allow my older eyes to acquire the target much faster than the stock sites. Look over the instructions as to how to raise the point of impact before you head out to the range.
Flawless
I got this sight set for my (pre-remington) Marlin 1895 with 22" barrel. The front sight went on without a hitch, everything lined up perfectly. The plug even screws in from underneath. Very slick. The rear went on also with no problem. It was even sighted pretty closely as received, Very happy with this kit.
Fast but rough
Installed this on my 1895GBL - easy install (only lost one screw - a new record for me!), though there were no instructions in the package. Luckily, XS has install instruction videos on their website. Got to the range a couple days later, got the rifle "zero'd" within 12 rounds. These sights are fast, rugged, and look good on the Guide Gun. The down side is there are two apertures provided - I'll call them Huge and YUGER. Neither aperture really provides a useable "peep" rear sight - these really are Ghost Rings. The upside to that is they're fast - snap shooting out to 100 yards on IDPA profile steel was an easy do. But, I wouldn't want to use these for hunting - the aiming is just too rough to realistically place a well aimed shot. Best 3-shot 25 yard groups I or my buddy could manage, prone and supported on shooting bags, was about 2" - or Minute of Buffalo...
Not sure what the deal was.
I have used XS sights on previous projects with no issue but I had to drill the back hole out to get the screw to even fit the front sight, the rear fit fine.
Winged Sights
Ordered two different times and both times the winged portion was missing from the package…
