Every gunsmith knows no two screw slots are ever exactly the same. Because so many factories use outside vendors for screws, slot sizes can vary, even within the same model of gun. If you want to be professional about your work, you custom grind each bit to the correct size, a frustrating and time-consuming task without a Super Set. Magna-Tip Bits feature TRUE hollow-ground bits which transmit all the energy of torque evenly and smoothly, up the shank of the bit. Not only does hollow grinding permit this power transfer, it also gives complete metal-to-metal contact between the tip of the bit and the entire screw slot. Thus, maximum power can be exerted. The 58 Bit Master Super Set Plus adds 10 hex-head bits (#185-9, #185-10, #185-00, #185-0, #185-1, #185-2, #185-3, #185-4, #185-5, #185-6), 3 Phillips-head bits (#440-1, #440-2, #440-0), and a 1/8"" square bit for Remington buttplates to the contents of the 44 Bit Super Set Plus. This is an outstanding set of bit drivers. The size selection of the bits is perfect for firearms. Secondly, the bits in the kit are the Zephyr brand. Zephyr bits are known for being absolutely the best bits available (they are a supplier to Snap-On among others) and they are made in the USA! Win-Win. The included bit drivers are also USA made with Bronells logo. The only downside I experienced was one size of the hex bits was duplicated, so one size was missing. Not a big issue. I ordered the missing size Zephyr bit through Zoro and all is well. You cannot go wrong with this kit as it is of the highest quality available and I am a self confessed tool snob. Order the kit and enjoy.

Excellent Set/Exceptional Quality

So far this set has been great. The different sized tools allow you to have a perfect fit and not damage your firearms or the hardware that holds them together. These are especially good for black powder firearms. When my set arrived I had a double of one size tip and was missing one tip. Brownells immediately sent me the missing tip and did not ask me to return the duplicate tip I received. Brownells really has fantastic customer service and their contact people on the phone are extremely knowledgeable. I definitely would recommend this product.

Great Quality

Finally broke down and got the 58 bit Super Set because I didn't want to fool around buying bits as I needed them. The set is great quality and shortly after receiving it I fully disassembled all of my cap n' ball revolvers and gave them a good cleaning. Will probably disassemble my Taurus Thunderbolt next.

Perfect Bit Set for Gunsmithing

I could kick myself for not buying this set years ago, after so many recommendations. In that time, I've messed up or destroyed more screw heads than I care to remember. This set includes almost every (not thin, torx, hex or specialty) bit you will ever need to work on anything from 100+ year old European surplus to modern sporting rifles. The bits are organized in rows by width and thickness. This way you can select the bit that completely fills the slot of the head in every way, giving you a precise fit. This allows you to loosen and tighten the screw or bolt with the confidence that the bit will not cam or slip out of the slot. I highly recommend this set and the thin bit set.
