Feel of quality
Tight and very ridged feeling. The hand guard is two pieces, the lower section being held in place by 4 screws in the side of the upper portion. I also bought a Riflespeed adjustable gas block, so took it apart first thing. The upper hand guard is held in place via six 4mm hex screws to a plate between the barrel nut and reciever. Fit and finish is nice and very tight.

DD 14.5 bbl
This is a review of the Daniel Defense 14.5 bbl stripped upper. The fit and finish is superb. Color is a mix of a soft bronze and black. Being 14.5 it falls under NFA rules if mounted to a rifle lower. I had my rifle machinist add a 2.75 Griffin Suppressor pinned and welded before anything else. This is a 1X7 5.56 bbl, excellent for the medium and heavier projectiles. I’m mounting this on a Wilson Combat Lower with extra upgrades. I’m still in sourcing parts but I’m very happy w/the build.

A Dream Come True
This upper has always been a dream. Because of Brownell’s they have made my dream come true. I’ve owned Daniel Defense guns for years and have always wanted the RIS II Heavy SOCOM barrel Block II. Thank you Brownell’s for making my dream gun come true!

I have two of these here's what you should know
First of all, the primary motivation for me to buy these were the heavy profile barrels (unlike the other DD stripped uppers which use government profile), which do not have the front m203 cut. It must be noted that you cannot be purchased these barrels separately. They are incredibly accurate and heavy duty barrels. This unique factor alone makes these worth the money over all of the stripped DD uppers offered by brownells or even full rifles through DD directly. That being said, these NO LONGER COME WITH M203 HANGARS attached to the inside front of the RISII rails. My first one did, the second did not. While most people will not be affected by this, DD stated that they no longer include them and they are not available sold separately unless you find some that somebody took off of an existing rail. Regardless of this, these are wonderful uppers that while heavy are just a joy to shoot even suppressed. Also, the anodizing color may vary. My first one was very dark, and this latest addition was noticeably lighter. I have shot many different ammo types from 50gr 223 to 55gr m193 5.56 and 77gr AAC and IMI without a single issue. I don't have a target photo but other reviewers have likely included that. Accuracy is not a problem. The only complaint is weight, especially with a suppressor attached. Even the recoil, compared to a mid length of similar profile, is not noticeably sharper. Even if it is in theory - I certainly can't tell.

Workhorse
This upper is a beast, little gassy and built for abuse.

Love These Uppers
I purchased the MK18 upper a year ago and love it. When I wanted a 14.5 upper this was my first choice. I haven’t completed my lower as of this writing but if this upper performs anywhere close to the MK18 I’ll be happy and fully recommend them.
