2nd review for 2nd carrier group
I bought a second BCG after 5 years of testing the 1st one. This rifle is built for ultimate reliability. I chose this carrier because the said rifle has the option to shoot suppressed, and I like pinned gas blocks for this application.
This thing is great
Using a standard carbine spring, and an H buffer will simply things. Going into this with an aftermarket, high power buffer spring could give you fits. Other brands Nitride coatings can show wear very early. I have been shooting this BCG since 2017 or so. The coating is still intact and my rifle shoots suppressed perfect with it. Disclaimer: I am a hunter. I don't do "rifle burn downs" or "mag dumps". I do however shoot at moving targets and take follow up shots regularly.
Amazing
I have a few of these bcgs, and other than a dedicated adjustable gas block, this is the best option for shooting suppressed. Not as fine of adjustment as a gas block, but super easy and they work good. I had an issue with a very early model, before they had the forward assist grooves, but bootleg was quick to replace. After that, it works well. Would recommend for anyone who cant or doesnt want to run an adjustable gas block. Its not a perfect solution, but if you have a very gassy rig when suppressed, it will serve you well.
These things are...AWESOME
I've had enough problems with adjustable gas blocks but these adjustable carriers work great for me. This is all I use in AR's that get shot suppressed. It does essentially the same as limiting the gas via an adjustable gas block...most of the gas blow back into the receiver comes from the bore, not the gas tube. Restricting the gas flow into the expansion chamber inside the carrier slows down the action, same thing restricting at the gas block does.
Works well
I think a different coating would raise the quality nickel or chrome. Only has four adjustments. I run this on my 10 300 aac with socom762 rc2 and my 18 223 Wylde mk12 clone with AEM5. Really a properly sized gas port is all you need but when running a suppressor this helps take the edge off a little. I find when its shot a lot (300ish rounds) with the suppressors adjustments are difficult to make on the fly. So like a standard adjustable gas block set it and leave it. It is pretty easy to clean no screws to strip.
Have 2 Not Too Impressed
It works, but get used to cleaning after 40-60 shots.. I am sending my unit back for return . I shoot 200-300 rounds at a time. Get used to adjusting bolt after 10-15 rounds, then taking bolt out after 40 rounds. Replacing bolt with old stock bolt. Then shooting 400 Rds flawlessly. Bolt not recommended for over 40rds
