M1500 BARRELED ACTION 300 WIN MAG THREADED

M1500 BARRELED ACTION 300 WIN MAG THREADED Reviews & Ratings

The M1500 barreled action in .300 Win Mag comes fully assembled with the barrel chambered, installed, and properly headspaced - eliminating the most difficult work in "building" your own bolt action rifle. Mate it to a suitable stock or chassis system, and you have high-quality precision rifle for an amazingly affordable cost.

Each Howa M1500 .300 Win Mag barreled action has a forged one-piece bolt body, with two locking lugs and an integral bolt handle. The bolt face is precisely squared to the barrel chamber for excellent contact with the receiver recess. An M16-style extractor ensures reliable, positive extraction. Receiver is drilled and tapped for a scope base. A full-length bottom metal with hinged floorplate, magazine box, mag spring, and front/rear action screws are part of the package.

Howa's HACT two-stage trigger delivers a light, consistent pull with a crisp let-off. The "Howa Actuator Controlled Trigger" has a uniquely configured sear and precision-cut contact surfaces, so creep is entirely eliminated. Pull weight is impressively light. The three-position safety allows the bolt to be completely locked and also lets you unload the M1500 .300 Win Mag barreled action while it's on "SAFE". FFL required for purchase.

Everything I hoped for.
I built a hunting rifle in 300 Winchester Magnum. Boyds hardwood and Leopold optic. I could not be more pleased. Sub MOA groups with hunting ammo. Looking forward to building another rifle soon.

Howa barreled action
I have purchased 3 Howa barreled actions now 2 i built wood stocks for and glass bedded and free floated both under 1 moa rifles .270 and 243. The last in 300 Winchester i have put it in a weatherby tupperware stock and thats it and it is approx 1.5 moa I have no doubts this barreled action will shoot moa or less with a tiny bit of work.

Great value, sweet action!
My Howa 1500 barrelled action in 300 Win Mag just came in and I think it is a GREAT value! I wanted a sporter barrel, but because of the recoil I will be running a Dead Air Nomad 30 suppressor with the e-brake. The muzzle is in fact threaded 1/2x28 which is odd for a 30 caliber gun. But it IS as advertised and I am sure it is so a thin muzzle brake can be installed. I just have to order an adapter plate from Dead Air. Another reviewer complained about the trigger. I find it odd because it is adjustable. Mine breaks consistantly at 3.75 pounds. It is a 2 stage trigger, which I think is perfec for a hunting rifle, although I would like to have it break at 2.75-3 pounds. There is no toticable over travel on my trigger which is awesome. In the end I may install a Trigger Tech trigger. Everything is very well done, although very simple. I may send my bold to LSI to have it fluted. My only complaint is I REALLY don like the giant, gaudy HOWA in gold on the floor plate.

Trigger
Trigger creep is bad I know this is a 2 stage trigger and creep is built into it but there is just to much to live with will replace springs to see if it can be taken care of should make it 2 way adjustable creep and backlash and pull trigger breaks right at 3 tp 3.5 lb breaks clean creep and backlash kills it for me trigger job has to be done either improve or replace

On the fence
Struggled with this thing for a 2 years, even after glass bedding in a high end stock. I realized the barrel significantly changes point of impact as it heats up. I started making minor scope adjustments based on the cold bore shot and letting it cool for 20 minutes between shots. Like any firearm, you get what you pay for. Its a decent 300 yard hunting rifle.

Can't get it to shoot.
I've had one of their 300 win mag barreled actions for a while and never really have got it to shoot well. Put it in a nice stock and tried to shoot it the way it came without much luck. So I tried lapping the barrel still no luck. I had the action bedded still no luck. I've tried multiple different ammo's from multiple different manufacturers still no luck. Finally kind of gave up on the thing.
