Unitized my gas cylinder
Read about these on a forum, and decided to do some research. My M1a has been accurate for me, and I haven't had complaints, but after researching I decided to check the tightness of my gas cylinder. Found out it had .030" of play, enough to allow the port in the gas cylinder to partially block the port in the barrel, giving inconsistent gas flow between shots. After installing the appropriate shims, the ports form a perfect pair of concentric circles (cylinder port is slightly larger than barrel port). Also the gas cylinder is now locked down by the gas cylinder lock with the proper amount of torque (unitized). Inconsistency between shots is no longer a factor.
