Not my first chronograph, but it is far different than the Ohler-type chrono's I've used in the past. Instructions were simple and direct, unit worked perfectly first time out. I wouldn't recommend this for a beginning chrono user, but no reason why a newby couldn't learn it easily enough. Instead of fixed sensors you shoot over, it uses doppler radar. Like the police type only for bullets, LOL. I didn't have any trouble getting it to read 9mm and 22LR pistol on an indoor range. It also picked up shots from the lanes next to me, which is an adjustment the unit is capable of eliminating but I didn't this time because I wanted to see how long the batteries ran when the unit wasn't in standby. (not transmitting). Over an hour of range time and the rechargeable Eneloops I used (unit takes six AAs) still had two bars left. Adding an external power supply is easy. Just plug one into the USB. Even so, I had no trouble picking my shots out of it as the display was pretty quick. I'm happy!

Cannot comment on product. It took a few day order processing but once shipped it was here in a flash! I guess I am happy with the EDGE program. I bought the LabRadar based on friends who own and are delighted with the product. I was going to try the Garmin...But I am not getting any younger so time matters!

Works great, easy to set up. Just had to change from meters to feet per second. Great info for my reloading projects. Nothing to shoot but the target. Very low stress not having to aim through a small triangle.

So far this works great for me, no more getting out in front of the firing line to set up. My wife got it for me for Christmas she didn't like helping me set up the other chronograph hehe. Haven't had any issues with the app so far, there is a newer version of the app and software that I will have to learn. But all the new updates look ok so far. I do like that you can name the series and add your powder charge to. Don't no the accuracy of it but seems to be in the ball park what little bit I have used it.

The Labradar works great. I prefer it over the Magnetospeed (I own both) because it sits next to the firearm so it doesn't change your impact on target. It doesn't touch the firearm in any way so you don't worry about barrel harmonics for finding speed accuracy nodes (I believe that the Magnetospeed does have an effect on harmonics kind of like a barrel tuner but without being able to tune it). The Labradar also doesn't have any impact on the bullet's flight due to the initial pressure bouncing off the Magnetospeed as the bullet exits the muzzle. For target/competitive shooters I think it saves time and the number of rounds to get a good load developed. The Labradar's cost is higher so if you shoot factory ammo, the Magnetospeed is fine (imho) ..you get the muzzle velocity and then can pull it off to shoot and test your come-ups and windage settings. With a suppressed 308win, it wouldn't detect shots (175grn SMK Sig match ammo) ....default Trigger at Level 1. I didn't test an external trigger source so I don't know if that would work. Great device and I would recommend for competitive shooters. The only real con is that it is a pretty high price tag.

This is by far the best chronograph I have used. No more shooting through hoops. It's very accurate as the ammo is testing out to match reloading data. Even calculated loads are matching the readings. It works better than they claim. They say it needs 15 meters, 20 best to register accurately. But It works well at 5 meters, for youths learning to hit easier at 5 meters with combat pistols. I used a Bic pen housing to make a aiming sight as the notch was ok but when you have not so great vision the Bic scope works very well. Yes I get a odd reading here and there at 5 meters but that may be cause people miss the target. Old primers can have the same effects. The battery pack would last 8 to 10 hours easy. After you use it awhile the panel is easy to start a new series for every target or shooter. Much easier to set up on a tripod but get a good one, its a bit heavier than a camera. The base plate is great for a bench and also at home on a table when going over the readings. The first one I got failed terribly and it turned out the internal triggers were bad. Brownells did not make me return it to LabRadar and sent a new one at no cost to me. I bet there were covers on those triggers and they were not removed after install. It's electronic so I got a Pelican for transport but it looks like its designed to be on the rugged side. This chronograph is great for ranges as there are no hoops down range. I am on my way to making better munitions. If the price is just to much then I would use the Caldwell with hoops. It's LED light system worked under all conditions, bright sun or cloudy day it was accurate also.

Used it first time today. Easy setup, just follow the directions. Used external USB battery pack. Worked first time without fuss. Shooting 357SIG and 10mm at 50 yds. Used a tripod next to the bench, there was not enough room on our benches to use the mount plate that I bought with it.

WORKS great as far as I'm concerned. Had 2 missed readings out of 25-30 shots so far with my bolt rifles. My competition Electronics digitial chronograph went in the garbage literally. If you have the money, this thing is worth it. It doesn't matter if it's too dark or too much light outside. This thing will read in any conditions. Buy a battery charger too for it I did.

Hardware is excellent, but needs a more accurate aiming device than notch. Buy an external power pack. Micro jack plug not robust enough for continual use should have been a USB A. Collects amazingly good data out to 100 yards much better than other chronos. Needs better analysis software to provide least square fit to velocity diet information and screen out bad data do not just take stated V0 data as correct.

I purchased the LabRadar to replace a photoelectric chronograph which was difficult to set up and use in bright sun or snow. The LabRadar is easier to set up and worked first time out. Simply place even with the muzzle and aim the unit at the target. I have no positive method to test the accuracy of the unit however I have fired a series of Federal Match rounds which correspond well with published data. I am familiar with traffic radar which have both an internal and external (tuning fork) check to verify accuracy. Would be nice to have an independent verification system. The unit is supposed to be able to track velocity out to 100 yards. 80 is the farthest I have obtained. I have not used it with a different backstop which according to instructions makes a difference. So far the LabRadar recorded every 308 Winchester fired when the unit was properly aimed at the target. Reviews from other users suggested battery life with the 6 AA cells is limited. I used an auxiliary battery pack which was almost depleted after each session. The LabRadar has an available IOS application so unit operations can be controlled and reviewed with a smart phone. Once during each of 2 sessions the app lost connection with the unit. Shots taken during that period still recorded and could be reviewed when communication was re-established, so no lost work. Unlike the app for the photoelectric chronograph, there is no provision for user input notes to keep track of notes on caliber, load or weather. LabRadar gives you only a shot string number. Its up to you to keep track of other data with pencil and paper. Once you download the results to a PC and the CVS file you can add any notes. It would be better better to have these fields available so you could use your smartphone to add the notes up front. The software engineers at LabRadar need to do more work to justify the price and work on the connection glitches.
