KEYMOD FOREARM STUD ADAPTOR

KEYMOD FOREARM STUD ADAPTOR Reviews & Ratings

The Grovtec KeyMod Forearm Stud Adaptor provides a solid anchor for attaching a sling or bipod to your rifle or carbine with a KeyMod™ designed handguard. Working just like a traditional stock forend sling swivel, this steel adaptor accepts sling swivels and bipods from a variety of manufacturers. Grovtec’s Keymod Forearm Stud Adaptor comes with two different stud screw lengths, making it easy to adjust to variances in handguards.

Will not work with all Keymod Rails.
My intent (read: hope) was to use this as a bi-pod mounting point on a Daniel Defense Keymod Slim Rail. It didn't work out. The product is a simple design: a threaded sling-stud slips through a hole on your keymod, and threads onto a small steel plate on the inside of your rail. The plate is actually too wide, and will not fit inside the slot of the Daniel Defense rail. Perhaps you could file it down & make it fit. If you work past that issue you will discover that the Harris Bi-pod will not tighten up against the Daniel Defense rail using this simple sling stud design. This is not the fault of the Grovtec Product. The Harris Bi-pod requires a flat mounting area, and the contours of the Daniel Defense Product does not provide this. However, I found that this sling stud kit will fit on a CMMG Keymod Rail. The Groovtec plate fits perfectly inside the CMMG Rail. Perhaps they had made this specifically for the CMMG Rail, because it fits like a glove. The Harris Bi-pod will tighten up to the CMMG Keymod rail, but it doesn't feel solid. Maybe it's okay, but I have not used this in the field. Nonetheless, the Grovtec kit it does give you a nice solid sling stud on the CMMG rail, and if that's all you need, it will work for that purpose. This product works similar to the old Uncle Mike's kit #5 that allows you to put a sling stud on the Old AR-15 round hand guards. In fact, the threaded sling studs and the inside-plates are threaded the same. The takeaway is this will work well to add a sling stud to a CMMG Rail, and you'll need to trim the plate to use it on a Daniel defense rail. It won't work as a bipod mounting system with the DD Slim rail. It might work for the CMMG. Good luck.
