Reviews Summary
The HOWA 1500 Mini Action Magazine has received mixed reviews. There's a strong desire for metal alternatives and improved durability.
What Reviewers Are Saying
Product Quality
85%
Many users express disappointment with the quality of the magazine, noting it's made of cheap-feeling plastic. Despite functioning well, the overall perception is that the materials do not match the expectations for durability, often described as 'toy-like'.
Functionality
70%
Though the magazines are criticized for their build quality, reviewers commonly agree that they function adequately without jams or issues during use, which prevents complaints about their operational performance.
Price Concern
60%
A recurring theme is the belief that the price of the magazines is unjustifiably high considering their material quality. Several reviewers state that $60 is far too steep for a plastic magazine, suggesting a price closer to $20 would be more appropriate.
Lack of Alternatives
75%
Reviewers frequently mention that these magazines are currently the only option available for the Howa Mini Action rifles, which adds to their frustration over the quality. Users are eager for aftermarket options that might offer better materials and durability.
Performance of the Firearm
55%
While the magazines draw heavy criticism, there are compliments for the accuracy and performance of the Howa 1500 Mini Action rifles themselves. Many users love their firearms but feel let down by the inadequate magazines supplied.

5 or 10 Rd magazine, 223
Over the course of a year I could never find the magazine that is listed as a 10 round magazine for 223 listed. Turns out these are the same as the original magazine, but with a little snap in spacer on the bottom spring guide. So it's a 5 round magazine or a ten minutes of work 10 round magazine.

Good Magazine
I have 3 of these mags for my mini action and so far they work well, as they have a couple hundred rounds through them as of this writing. They feed and function perfectly so I have no complaints there. I am aware that the Howa is an entry level rifle and that manufacturing for this rifle is optimized for low cost. That said, I do wish that the magazines and the mag catch were metallic and not this rather soft plastic, thus 4 stars.

Agreement
I agree about being surprised with the plastic magazine and lower assembly. Let me know when something in metal is available. I single load so my magazine is now basically a follower. I wish I had bought the heavier barrel

Cheap plastic mags.
These are the cheapest made mags I have ever seen but the only ones available & they do work, I just don't know for how long. And they took too long to get & were too expensive.

Cheap, way overpriced for a plastic mag.
I have a Howa 1500 mini action in 7.62x39. Nice little gun, but a real cheap, plastic magazine. Functions well, but certainly not worth $60 for a replacement magazine. I have to agree with the only other reviewer on this one. Been selling guns for over forty years, can't believe how they can justify such an exorbitant price for a plastic magazine. Worth about $20 at most. Mike

Junk
These are the same magazines that come stock for the 6.5 Grendel mini action. When I got my barreled action I almost laughed because I thought the magazine was for a toy gun . CHEAP ! I MEAN CAPITAL ! I give them 2 stars because they do function. Very flimsy plastic that feels like it might break if handled too rough and very weak follower springs . Unfortunately there are no aftermarket magazines at current time for the howa mini 6.5 Grendel.!THIS IS THE FIRST TIME IVE EVER GIVEN A NEGATIVE REVIEW IN MY LIFE . Im holding out hoping another manufacturer starts making a howa mini 6.5 Grendel/762x39 magazine before Im forced to buy one of these as a back up . Way too expensive for what they are ! As far as the howa barreled receivers superb accuracy thats amazing! They are 5 stars .

Only option sucks
This magazine in 5 and 10 round is the only option available at the time of this review. These magazines are cheaply made injection molded plastic. And I don’t mean like magpul plastic I mean toy plastic. It’s a shame gun shoots great but the magazine had to be opened up to allow rounds to be picked up by bolt. Howa needs to do something about this. Or some one needs to make a aftermarket.
