HK 416 HANDGUARD FREE FLOAT M-LOK

HK 416 HANDGUARD FREE FLOAT M-LOK Reviews & Ratings

The Heckler & Koch HK416 rifle is well-known for its quality and performance capabilities, especially given its use by U.S. armed forces in recent years. However, the commercial market has exploded with M-LOK accessory attachments, and the Midwest Industries HK 416 Free-Float M-LOK Handguard enables owners of this battle rifle to take advantage of these recent additions to the firearms world. The Midwest Industries HK 416 Free-Float M-LOK Handguard is machined from durable 6061 aluminum and features a hard-coat anodized finish in black that protects against damage in rugged environments. The cross-bolt on the handguard is made from heat-treated 4140, which is finished in a phosphate coating.

  • Available in 9-inch and 13.5-inch length
  • Provides seven sides of M-LOK attachment slots
  • Weight: 9.9 or 14 ounces, depending on model
  • Includes one M-LOK Picatinny rail

The Midwest Industries HK 416 Free-Float M-LOK Handguard installs with the factory barrel nut and is completely made in the USA.

Good, ergonomic, but some machining required...
I got a BRN-4 upper (10.4in) and mated it to a JP-15 complete lower, and noticed right away that the front pivot pin was binding. I ended up having to have 30mils ground off the back of the hand guard, or it would exert force on the pivot pin tabs on the lower receiver. Once that was done, and it was re-blackened, it worked like a charm. Maybe Midwest should send them from the factory this way. The HK416 upper was, after all, meant to operate with legacy M4 lowers. Otherwise I would have given 5 stars.
