Have four of them, they are great.
I don’t know why some folks seem to have so much trouble with these things. I have them on all my Glocks. I have them on my gen 3 G34 & G35 and even my gen 2 G17 & G19. They work fine with Dawson EZ-Off baseplates and with Dawson Tool-Less extended basepads (although those may be discontinued). It is still possible to get a grip on the baseplate to strip a stuck mag, even with unmodified factory mags (although it is a little harder with factory mags with stock baseplates). If you use them on a gen 2 you will have a slight gap at the front of the grip, but they still work fine (see picture).
Easy to install with very minor fitting
Installed today on a P80 G17. I had to take off the smallest amount of material (I literally just gave it one pass of a scrape with a knife) from one edge that locks up in the frame just to get it started then tap it in the rest of the way with a delrin tipped hammer. The fit is quite tight, but not in such a manner that it was difficult to install or causes any kind of warping that may introduce friction in the magazine well of the frame. I can't detect any difference in the lock up/drop free smoothness using my Magpul GL9 mags (sorry, no OEM mags on hand to test with). Overall, great part. The fitting was so minor I won't even ding it down a star in this review since the whole install took me less than a minute.
Mag well fitting
This did require some fitting but there was material on this that made fitting it possible. Didn't need to ADD anything but shave it off a bit to fit. This did exactly what I needed it to once fit into mag well
Inexpensive, Effective, Upgrade
Installed in less than 5 minutes on dead stock Glock 17 Gen 4 MOS. Clean, solid, fit and appearance. Doesn't look like an add-on. Provides a generous guide to aid magazine changes. Works well with standard Glock and Magpul magazines. If you have to pull your magazine out, there is not much of the magazine base available to grasp. My mags fall out very easily - so this isn't much of an issue. Completely satisfied with purchase.
EASY
Easy to install, and works with MAGPUL magazines, makes the gun look more finished.
Amazing!
That magazine well works like a charm! Got it and installed it in minutes. Tried a couple of tac reloads and it helps so much!
G 17 Gen 2 installation
I have a G 17 Gen 2 that I just put a Brownells RMR slide on. I wanted a magwell funnel that didn't cost as much as a new barrel. Magpul came through once again. Inexpensive, well made and easy to install. The only problem is that the Gen 2 has a cut out in the front of the grip frame to pull out stuck mags, and it looks a little weird with the full wrap around magwell. So I used my unlicensed Dremel tool and carefully cut an opening to match the frame. It did not hurt the integrity of the magwell since it is supported inside and out by the pistol frame. If you have a later model glock this operation is unnecessary
Another GREAT product from Magpul
It's a great mag-well! I installed them on all of my Gen-3's. They take about 30 seconds to install. They do make it easier and faster to do slide-lock (emergency) reloads. My only issue was that, some of my Gen-3's were a bit older and had a cutout on the front strap of the frame. I didn't care for the gap, so I contacted Glock USA and inquired into getting new frames, without the cutout. I followed their instructions, and in less than 10 days I had new replacement frames, without the cutout. I have to say, I was very impressed with Glock's service! All is good now!
Nice fit
Fit is nice and tight. Actually have to press up into the magazine well to get the set screw in alignment with the lanyard hole in the grip. The magazine well makes contact at the front first giving it a tight spring like fit. Only complaint I have is the magazine well will not work with all magazine base plates. For instance will not allow the use of Gen 5 magazine as it hit at the front. Also does not work with the Vickers floor plates. Works perfectly with the GL9 magpul mags and the Glock Gen 4 and older mags. This is why I gave it 4 stars. Otherwise perfect in every way and looks like it was made on the gun when installed.
Meh
I put this on a gen 4 34 that I have put a Rival arms slide and barrel on and a Timiney trigger. This is a recreational shooting pistol. I did not think I needed a magwell but thought I would try it. First I had to fit it to get it on. Others have commented on it interfering with the other back straps but that is not relevant to me. Secondly magazines insert lock and eject just fine but there is less room to get a grip/finger hold if you have to remove a struck magazine. Third seating the magazine just feels different as only about half the base plate hangs below the well. but it probably trains you to have a good seating technique. I am sure it acts as a good protector for the bottom edge of the grip frame. I will keep this for a while but if I ever remove it I wont put it back on.
