GAS BLOCK PUNCH KIT

GAS BLOCK PUNCH KIT Reviews & Ratings

The Geissele® Gas Block Pin Punch Set is made specifically for the removal and installation of the 0.078" roll pin that secures the gas tube to the gas block of an AR-15/AR-10. Removal of a rusted-in gas block roll pin has always been a challenge since there are no commercial pin punches in 0.078" diameter. Additionally, 1/16" (0.062") punches have a tendency to bend and very few starter punches are available in 1/16" diameter. The Geissele® Gas Block Pin Punch Set makes gas block work a whole lot easier. The first punch to grab when removing the roll pin is the Starter Punch. This is the punch with the long, tapered end. The long taper is much more resistant to bending and buckling than the straight shank of the Pin Punch. Use the Starter Punch to get the roll pin moving. Then, use the Pin Punch to drive the roll pin out completely.

The Geissele® Gas Block Pin Punch Set is made from properly hardened and tempered 01 tool steel. The Gas Block Pin Punch Set is considered a consumable item, meaning they will eventually wear out and will need to be replaced. Geissele® will not replace tools damaged from misuse or normal wear and tear. Always make sure your weapon is unloaded and the magazine removed before starting work.

Effective Tools
I use these punches to remove gas block roll pins on M-16s and M-4s on a regular basis. I have found these tools to be effective for this task.

Not perfect
Bought this to help remove gas block roll pin from a JP gas block after 2000 rounds. The starter punch worked great, got the pin moving. Switched to the other punch to finish driving the roll pin out. After it was out, I inspected the punch and it was slightly bent, after jut one use.

Will it work? Yes. Will they last? NO.
Dont be fooled by the Geissele brand on these gas block punches. Bent one on the first use and Ive installed quite a few gas blocks etc with other punches etc. The good part is they were sized correctly and it did work to install the block...but... I think there are better options out there.

ok for removing roll pins not installing
these are both flat ended punches not roll pin punches. I was able to easily remove the roll pin that I was installing after it became mushroomed and deformed and was unusable. I assumed that a gas block punch kit would have a roll pin punch this was an incorrect assumption but one that set my build back because now I have to get a new roll pin and a proper roll pin punch event though I already bought an expensive gas block punch kit. If you are looking to remove a pin this is good but if you need to install one get a proper roll pin punch set.
