FRONT SIGHT PUSHER

FRONT SIGHT PUSHER Reviews & Ratings

WILLIAMS GUN SIGHT FRONT SIGHT PUSHER

In the past, there was only one acceptable way to install a front sight in a ramp - pound it in with a hammer from the side. This method frequently marred a beautiful finish and loosened or damaged the ramp.

The Williams Front Sight Pusher is the easiest and best way to install a front sight in a ramp. Equalizing the pressure on ramp and sight, it permits installation without marring or damaging. Eliminates excessive pressure on the ramp. Smoothly, accurately moves sight into exact position.

This is only for a ramped front sight and will not work on any pistol sights.

SPECS:

  • Aluminum body is 43/8" (11.1cm) long x 1" (2.5cm) wide x 13/8" (3.5cm) high.
  • Screw is steel.

Well that was easy!
After doing some research and reading the troubles of people getting the front sight of their 10/22 I decided it would be best to try this out. Took about all of 5 minutes to get the front sight off with ease. No gun vise and no additional hands needed super easy.

Worked great on Ruger 44 Carbine
Easily removed OEM front sight on Ruger 44 Carbine that would not budge with punch. Made installing a replacement fiber optic front sight a breeze. Should work on any ramped front sight.

Easy to use
Very simple to use. Works well and effortlessly.

Excellent when you follow the directions
This product will only work on ramped front sights, like Ruger 10/22, Remington 870 Express shotgun barrels with sights or other firearms with ramped front sight bases and a dovetailed sight. It will not work with round barrels. If you use it as designed, it is excellent. I used it to install a new front sight on my Ruger 10/22 and it worked perfectly.

Williams Front Sight Pusher
Finely machined material, couldn't be better. Used it to place higher front bead sight on Williams shorty ramp. Was going to just use mallet and punch but I thought, why not do it right this time? Glad I did. It took about 2 minutes to R/R the bead. Not a scratch or a mar on my custom .45 Colt. Not sure what else it will be used for (Glock, S&W) but for any Williams ramp, it's perfect.

Better If They Would include Directions
Product works well but came without instructions, a problem that now seems universal to Williams products based on this item and a few peep sights purchased in recent months. As stated by others posting a review, it works well with ramped sights. Its not for use with dovetails cut through the barrel, a piece of information that would have been good to know before I used it on my Remington 572. Gets a four for not coming with instructions.

Very good for Ruger 10/22
Bought this for a Ruger 10/22 front sight that seemed press-fitted (lifted metal was palpable on the left side of the sight-base at the base-sight joint) and that I could not budge with a brass punch and hammer. Worked great: made removal easy. Only reason I didn't give it 5 stars was slight marring of the sight base finish (might have prevented that with more tape) that touched up nicely with cold bluing.

Better than what Mom used to make
As soon as I took it out of the package I had a sight to try it out on. It worked better than I expected. As a machinist, former mechanic & farmer I am no stranger to building tools I need, parts can be made cheaper than buying them usualy, and I've been doing this stuff for years, I'm telling you, other than being a little stiff to opperate at first, it's a wonderful tool. All I can add is Thanks Brownells for making a difficult sight a bit easier to work with.

Worked Great For Me!
Usually when adjusting a front sight with a nylon drift and hammer by the third blow I would remember and wish for the Williams Front Sight Pusher. Thankfully I thought of it early when purchasing a Meprolight tritium front sight blade for a 590A1 and included this pusher in the order. Worked like a champ! I lubricated the pusher's threads and sliding barrel with a couple of drops of Breakfee CLP, running the threaded jaw fully in both directions. Nice smooth feel with no binding. I placed the assembled shotgun in a cradle. Installed the pusher to push the existing blade off from the left to the right. Just snugged the pusher and triple checked the alignment of the base supports on the ramp and the screw jaw on the sight base. When satisfied I started twisting the handle and the existing blade broke loose and pushed right off. Both hands were required. One to turn the pushers handle and the second to steady the pusher body, making a cradle or padded vise to hold the firearm a necessity. I then removed the tool and cleaned the old threadlocker / glue from the dovetail with a clean drying solvent and then added a couple of drops of blue loctite to the dovetail. Installed the Meprolight blade from the right side of the base finger tight and installed the sight pusher to push from right to left. I again triple checked the alignment, once satisfied I twisted the handle and the sight blade installed with no problems. No mars, no scars, I would give the Williams Front Sight Pusher 4-1/2 stars if that were an option.

Williams Sight Pusher
Bought this tool to install Lyman 17A globe sights on a 2 Marlin lever guns, 336 and 39A, and a Henry Frontier with an octagon barrel. I could not get it to work on any of these rifles with these Lyman sights. The globe type sights are too high to fit into the tool. The tubular magazines do not allow you to try and push from under the barrel. The octagon barrel does not have a flat side for the tool to line up with and be on the dove tail of the sight. The tool worked fine on a 10-22 barrel.
