FN 509 ACTION ENHANCEMENT TRIGGER KIT

FN 509 ACTION ENHANCEMENT TRIGGER KIT Reviews & Ratings

Apex Tactical's FN 509 Action Enhancement Kit will give your pistol a lighter, smoother trigger pull with less pre-travel, shorter overall pull length, AND a shorter (therefore faster) reset. Like Apex's Action Enhancement kits for the S&W M&P and SIG pistols, it's an easy-to-install replacement for your 509's factory trigger, trigger bar, and sear - basically a drop-in DIY trigger job! FN 509 owners who are a little handy with tools and comfortable following instructions can do the job themselves.

  • Drop-in replacement for factory trigger, trigger bar & sear
  • Will not alter function of factory safeties
  • Machined aluminum "flat-faced" trigger shoe with matte black hard-anodized finish
  • Polished stainless steel sear & trigger bar
  • Fits FN 509 chambered in 9mm Luger OR .40 S&W
  • Available in Black or Red.

When installed, the Apex FN 509 Action Enhancement Kit will reduce the trigger pull weight to approximately 5.5 lbs.; actual weight will vary slightly from one FN 509 to another. Rather than the OK-but-not-great feel of the plastic factory trigger, Apex's trigger is made of machined aluminum with their trademark "Flat Face." Many shooters prefer the flat face for its more comfortable feel and precise control akin to a 1911 target trigger. At the same time the "AEK" will not alter the function or reliability of your 509's factory trigger safety, firing pin safety, drop safety, or out-of-battery safety.

Great trigger
People give a low star for this trigger because they can't get the locking block pin out but it has nothing to do with the trigger. I used a bench block some paper towels and a very short tapered punch and a steel hammer with fast solid strikes with no follow through so you don't crack the frame. Trigger is 5 stars, locking pin in 2 stars lol

FN 509 A.E.Trigger Kit
Have installed eight Apex Action Enhancement trigger kits in several models of FN 509s including LS Edge. Each unit different when removing block pin. Even with varying degrees of difficulty, have found press or jig not necessary when proper tools and work station utilized. Able to reuse all original pins after install. Advise complete polish work at this time. Have installed both flat face and curve kits for friends and myself. Vast improvement over factory trigger in accuracy, pre, post travel, pull weight and reset values. With factory barrel and quality ammo all 509s have been tack drivers during testing. Friends have commented that their 509 now sits in the sweet spot between comp and edc.. Highly recommend this kit.

Excellent Upgrade
This trigger feels great in my 509 Tactical. The stock trigger is terrible and this product was a perfect fix. After watching the YouTube videos that all stated it was very difficult to install I purchased the Apex install block for this gun and installation was a breeze. Easy and no issues. What an amazing upgrade to this firearm, I will shoot it a whole lot more now! Nice work Apex!

Excellent upgrade!
No one says that this trigger doesn't vastly improve the feel, lower the pull weight, and decrease the reset distance; the Apex AEK inarguably does all that. It's a fantastic upgrade. I'm not a "gunsmith," but I do work on my firearms.Like most people that are reading this, I can build an AR. I may be more mechanically inclined that some people, but the installation of this trigger was NOT that difficult. The pin that needs to be driven out... the one that gets all the complaints... didn't require an inordinate amount of force. Maybe I got lucky? Maybe I have more experience? All I know is that after watching the Apex Tactical video(s) I was able to drive the pin out using my wife's "girly hammer", a punch designed to countersink finishing nails to get it started, and my usual Starrett punches to completely drive the pin out. It's not that hard... at least mine wasn't. I will say that I wish I'd gotten the curved version; the flat faced trigger increases the reach to the trigger and I have Vienna Sausages for fingers. I've come to find out that the curved version shortens that distance by .2" vs the flat faced trigger. Don't be afraid to buy this Apex kit. Installation is NOT as difficult as it's been made out to be, and the AEK is a HUGE improvement over the OEM parts.

Great results from a quality product
I am happy to report that Apex delivered on their promised results, zero marketing fluff. It flat gets the job done and helped my very poor heavy 509 tactical trigger behave much better. Its much more enjoyable to shoot and shoot well. You MUST buy the Apex jig for this job. It is what will make or break this install for you. The unfortunate part is it adds another $40 to your trigger cost. But allows the job to be manageable and almost eliminates the possibility of damaging the gun trying to remove the unlocking block pin which FN never intended to have removed. The other reviews really bagged on the install saying little about the trigger, which was a bit unfair. If someone tries with out the Apex tool, you will likely feel the same. But its not the trigger's fault. You can blame your friends of FN. The trigger trigger has some additional room for improvement, and I hope Apex supports that related need. Specifically the take up via a reduced power firing pin block spring, and lighter trigger thru alternative springs. Perhaps for the sear.
