Just What I Needed
Nice field gauge for measuring the max allowable headspace on my M1 Garands. This was recommended over other brands for its precision and quality. Works perfect for a final headspace check for vintage rifles that may fail the no-go test.
You need this if you have the go nogo
I purchased the go and nogo set. seems like this Field gauge should be part of a 3 oc set to begin with. The go gauge, well you can do qithout unless you cut your own chambers. I get that, but a nogo and a Field gauge are a must. because if you cant chamber a round then thats that. but if you can chamber a round and the chamber is way too long then you could have a nasty failure..so the Field gauge and nogo should be the set..or all three. 99.00 for all three is a no brainer for the peice of mind when checking exiating firearms amd or putting together an AR platform. its good to test to make sure a barrel and an extention did not sneak by QC.
Last Chance Gauge.
I already had the GO, and NO GO gauges, but had a 98 Mauser to check out, and the bolt closed on the NO GO. I could have used shims on the NO GO Gauge, to determine just how far out the head space was, but given the price of the FIELD GAUGE, it was better to buy one. The Brazilian Mauser's bolt would not close on the Field Gauge. I felt secure test firing the rifle, and fired cases entered a SAAMI Case Gauge easily, with no signs of a head space issue. The Clymer Gauge is beautifully made, and finished. It's a good investment.
Good product, good quality.
A good quality headspace gauge for.308 chambers.
Does just what it's supposed to
I bought this to round out my 30-06 gauges (already had Go & NO-GO). This is perfect for verifying the headspace on my M1 Garand(s)after bolt work. Unlike the dedicated gauges for a Garand, this does not have the cutout for the ejector, but it's no big deal to disassemble the bolt to check with this gauge, the reassemble the bolt. I also dropped this in my '03 Springfield for fun...
