Totally Defective Product
I am not a professional gunsmith. However, I do have many professional gunsmith tools and I do work on my own firearms when necessary. I thought this tool would be helpful to measure the trigger pull on semiautomatic pistols that have excessively heavy hammer springs in the double action mode. And I could measure the pull of different springs I had made, etc. The one I received was brand new, but it was also totally defective. It was supposed to emit a "beep" when it was ready to measure, but never did. And it would never measure any trigger pull. I read the directions carefully, so I know I was using it correctly. If it was working correctly, the instructions said it would only measure up to 12 pounds of trigger pull. It bears the reliable Lyman name. It was made in China. I contacted Brownells, and they immediately sent a postage paid return address label for it. So as usual, their customer service is always outstanding.
Its junk, don't buy it typical Lyman
Was hoping Lyman made something good its junk.
not accurate or repeatable
Was giving me readings lower than what the installed spring was capable of.
Confusion!!
So, the Lyman weight gauge came in and I broke it out. As always I first tested it against several triggers with know pull weight we have installed. WOW what a shock! This equipment is either broke or just a bad product! I used it on 1 pistol with a 4 lb trigger pull, (tested before). It looks different than the one pictured so maybe I was sent a different product than above reviews. After 20 minutes of using on this 1 pistol & never the same reading, I was pretty upset. This gauge went from 0.1 oz - 15.0 lbs? It never displayed the 4 lb trigger!
