Great with the Heavy duty bore brush
I decided to get one of these rods, because I had to clean some department shotguns (Remington 870 Police Magnums) that had been neglected. In addition to the heavy carbon and plastic build up, there was rust and corrosion in the chambers. I used the Heavy duty 12 ga. copper/bronze brushes, and a corded drill (cordless is easier). I had to do some extra work on the chambers, but everything is bright as a mirror in the barrels again. For most cleaning, just use whatever solvent or all purpose cleaner / lube / oil, and start with the chamber, if you can remove the barrel. The spinning brush makes it much easier. Work smarter, not harder.

Drill Checkable Shotgun Cleaning Rod
Product is what I was looking for. Only disappointment is that I ordered 12 gauge rod guide #080-000-973WB to use with this product. Bore guide does not accept the rod, hole is too small. Would be nice if bore guides would accept the rod.

Heavy Duty
Great idea would have given 5+ except mine arrived slightly bent making it very hard to use. I purchased one after seeing one in use by a friend hands down best way to clean a shotgun.
3
Nice but cumbersome to use
Purchased to clean my shotguns of the built up plastic in the bores using Eds Red. My rod arrived with a slight bow in it but in a very heavy cardboard tube which was not damaged. I can only sumize that the rod had a slight bend in it from the factory and is almost impossible to get straight. I use two hands to use it with one holding it from beating the chambers up when I spin it. Unfortunately I did not open upon arrival and took several months to do so thus too late to return. This is a tools that you need if you shoot alot of modern shot shells with the plastic wads and shot cups as that plastic will build up in the bores and must be scrubbed out with a rod and brush such as this one.

Not compatible with Brownells 12 gauge bore guide
Bought this DRILL CHUCKABLE SHOTGUN CLEANING ROD specifically to clean multiple 12 gauge barrels with Brownells 12 gauge bore guides so I could clean with a drill. Sadly, the diameter of the of the rod is too big to fit the rod into the 12 gauge bore guide. While the rod itself is a fine product, none of the bore guide holes are large enough to accommodate the rod. Tragically sad.
