COTTON TIPPED APPLICATORS

COTTON TIPPED APPLICATORS Reviews & Ratings

We first spotted cotton-tipped applicators in pro use when touring the beautiful gunsmith shop at the FBI Academy in Quantico, VA. Beside each vise was a handful of them where one could be quickly grabbed for a host of uses - lubrication, cleaning down inside actions, getting into barrel chambers and for touch-up bluing of spots on barrels, frames and sights. The uses are limitless!

Swabs are just OK
These swabs are just ok. The batch I got appear to sourced from a company that promotes these for medical applications (package says "not sterilized"). They're probably fine for medical uses, but for gun work the stick is way to flimsy and breaks easily. I'm actually surprised at number of really positive ratings on this. I don't think I'm being overly aggresive using these swabs. When I run these swabs in the hole for the extractor on a 1911 slide and the stick breaks, it's not me.

Wood sticks too fragile
I use these for detailed gun cleaning. Like the longer reach and cotton tip stays on. The batch I have though has very brittle sticks which easily break with normal use.
