CHING SPECIALTY SLINGS

CHING SPECIALTY SLINGS Reviews & Ratings

Traditional leather slings are hand made from high-quality bridle leather that’s been tumbled for days with special oils and waxes for maximum flexibility and toughness in the field or at the bench. Features 38 punched holes for a variety of different length adjustments, and includes a solid brass buckle that locks tight for a secure hold that can’t slip. Brass screw fasteners keep sling loops closed for a level of security you can depend on. Available in 1" and 1¼" widths. Ching Specialty model is a 3-point sling developed by Eric Ching in cooperation with the Gunsite training school and is perfect for target shooting, competition and dangerous game hunting where fast, accurate shot placement is essential. Center strap locks around the shooter’s upper arm for rock-solid stability without using a bipod. Works like a “Deliberate” sling, but much faster to use, and once it’s preset, no further loop adjustments are necessary.

SPECS: Leather, black, with brass hardware. 44" (112cm) long x 1" (2.5cm) or 1ј" (3.2cm) wide. Ching Specialty also available in chestnut brown, includes center strap, 9" (23cm) long. Sling swivels not included.

THIS is the sling a hunter needs!
I have collected enough birthday candles to have the advantage of many hunts and animals collected and some missed, and wish to offer my thoughts, for what they may be worth. Like most, I started using plain slings simply for carrying my rifle. Then I discovered how to use one in the "hasty sling" fashion, and immediately experienced a huge improvement in hunting accuracy. My only complaint, if any, that when using a fully bedded rifle, a tight fitting hasty sling might pull the shot slightly to the left (for a right handed shooter). I then found the CW Sling, courtesy of Gunsite, and that pretty much eliminated that problem, but could take a little longer to get "slung" for the shot. Then I received the Ching Sling, made by Andy. It is fast as the Hasty Sling, but the pull is straight back, with no right or left tendencies. The quality and finish of the leather is unheard of in commercial products these days. If you don't have one, get it. If you don't know how to use it LEARN!

Finally--the perfect sling!
In shooting my "Rifleman" patch at an Appleseed event (www.appleseedinfo.org), I learned the value of a sling for significantly improved accuracy (even for standing shots). Next I began my long search for a sling that would also be fast in the transition from carry to a fully supported shooting position. I carried a double sling of my own design for a few hunting seasons but have now settled on the Andy's Leather Ching sling. I can transition from the "European carry" style ( rifle forward of body with muzzle pointed up) to a very securely slung standing or kneeling position in about one second! I place a 1/2 turn twist in the forward strap and keep the half twist between my shoulder and the swivel during carry. This make for a very comfortable configuration across the back of my hand after I simply place my support hand aft of the forward swivel and, using my strong hand to grasp the waist of my rifle stock, shoulder the stock (while keeping pressure on the sling to keep it up on my arm and near my bicep). It's more difficult to explain and even faster to do (and faster than "hasty" carry to shooting transition too). There really is no downside to using this sling, other than the need to install a second swivel stud and also lock the sling's Chicago screws with Locktite (you will lose them without it). However, the inconvenience of adding the second swivel and strap affords the best possible triangulated support in a sling. The force tends to be more aft than sideways on the stock than a conventional 1907 military or match style sling too. This helps reduce the deflective force on the stock's forend, which is a factor for even fully-floated stocks that are made from injection molded plastic, because they can often contact the barrel under conventional sling loads.

Great quality! Best sling made!
Great quality. Very sturdy: thick leather, solid hardware. I'll be buying slings for the rest of my rifles from Andy!

Splendid piece of gear
I`ve used several variants of the Ching sling untill I stumbled onto Andys in 2010, never looked elsewhere again. Current inventory are 4 with more to come. It works swell on AR15s as well if one runs a freefloat tube.

Best sling money can buy
Workmanship is superb, provides a rock solid mount if your elbow is supported, and quicker to loop up than a GI type sling.

The only way to go
I've got Andy's leather on all my hunting rifles and several of my military style rifles. My children learned to shoot with his leather. Many other (Andy) bits and pieces, (holsters, slides, butt sleeves, ammo carriers, etc) grace my various toys. You simply can't go wrong with Andy's stuff. geoff beneze beast enterprises

Superb quality sling
This particular sling is designed around the Scout Rifle "quick loop" 3 point idea, meaning that you simply thrust your support arm through the loop formed by the shorter, center strap that is attached to a third swivel. Very fast in any of the classic shooting positions. These are handmade by Andy Langlois and are simply the best quality.

Excellent all-around shooting sling
After installing one of these on my Savage Scout rifle, I'm not sure how I ever used anything else. The Ching sling design is as fast to get into as a Hasty sling and more stable. Unlike a Hasty sling though, this sling allows it to be adjusted for both carry length and shooting length at the same time. The craftsmanship from Andy's Leather is second to none. The sling is made from gorgeous bridle leather and will look great on any rifle.

Great product
This sling takes a little getting used to. Especially if you have never used a shooting sling before. Once you know how to make proper use of this sling, you will never want to use a simple carry strap on a gun in the field again.
