Inspection of the bore of rifle is a mus
This product will work if you have a good barrel without in perfections. It will give favorable measurements of a an 1/2 to 1 inch, provided dont have a barrel issues ,like I did . As a diy person. You need to have a gun smith inspect the entire length of barrel with bore scope. For If the barrel is badly rust pitted the casting will not come out once its cooled down solid. If you try a cleaning rod in a pitted barrel it will bend or break, doesnt have the strength to shear the cast from the rust pit. Or if you are not aware of a damage in the barrel ,and pour a casting in that exact area like I did the cast will not release. Best to heat the barrel with heat gun and melt it out. Dont use anythlike wooden dowel will break ,or a steel rod like i did. , use a slightly smaller brass or aluminum rod to remove, very carefully, if not dont do it ,melt it out. Thats what experience was , dont want you to have to go though, what a diyer like me had to . After your done have the barrel inspect for casting flash ,you got to get that out of there . That my experience best have a gunsmith do that has tools for this.
Be careful
Follow the directions exactly, waited half an hour then proceeded to destroy a cleaning rod trying to remove it from the chamber. I'll have to heat it with a heat gun to remove it from the chamber and buy a new Dewey rod. Not sure exactly what went wrong. I'm hesitant to try it again.
