Perfect upgrade for my FM
Perfectly and tightly fits my FM M90 Hi Power, I used to have few malfunctions but it seems this barrel design eliminated it. Fired 450 round on it without a single malfunction. also much more accurate than the factory barrel. It is a must upgrade for all Hi Power Clones for a reasonable price.
Review Pertaining To FEG Owners
I installed this in an FEG Hi Power, which came with a barrel with the "classic" humped feed ramp. I bought this barrel in order that I could run modern JHP ammo, not just FMJ. The barrel just dropped right in and locked up tightly, but I was unable to get it to feed any ammo, FMJ or JHP. I do have a 1992 FN MKIII Hi Power with the standard at that time straight feed ramp like the Brownells barrel, so I field stripped it and noticed that, where the feed ramp on the barrel passes between two vertical surfaces forming the front of the mag well, on the FEG the corners of those surfaces formed a sharp corner, whereas on the FN MKIII these sharp corners were relieved. These corners were where the case mouth was hanging up during the feed cycle. Apparently the humped feed ramp that was standard on pre-MKIII Hi Powers engaged the bullet nose earlier and lifted it past these sharp corners. The straight feed ramp allowed the case mouth to hang up. Some quick work with a Swiss precision file knocked these sharp corners off, as was done on the MKIII, so now this barrel feeds fine in my FEG.

Have two Israeli retread Hi Powers which needed new barrels . Interest also in threaded for suppressor worked well. No fitment needed.
Great Improvement For An Old Hi Power
Bought this for what used to be my grandfathers 1969 Mk1 that was incredibly innacurate. Something about the barrel muat have been defective since nobody could shoot it accurately. When first putting in the barrel it locked up with the slide incredibly tight and i couldn't put the gun back together at first. After working the slide a few times and taking it apart there were some small metal shavings, but it functioned normally in no time. I took it to the range a few days later and it was very accurate. Definitely a good purchase.
Dropped in and hit steel at 50 meters
I got this barrel for a FN/Browning BHP that I purchased online from a distributor. The firearm I received was in very poor condition, and didnt look much like the pics on the distributors web site. The barrel exhibited significant pitting ruining the accuracy of the pistol. Since the barrel it came with wasnt a serial number match to the frame, I decided to replace it along with all of the other parts needed to restore the pistol. I couldnt be happier with Brownells Hi Power barrel. It doesnt have the small hood that the original FN barrel did, but shoots well and is an excellent value. There was zero wait time, unlike some other barrel manufacturers that offer BHP replacement barrels, and it dropped in with no fitting. After the pistol passed the go/no-go headspace gauges I headed to the range. I experienced four malfunctions where the slide didnt lock into battery after firing a round during the first three magazines, but since then the pistol has run flawlessly through over 250 rounds of 115, 124, and 147 grain ball ammunition. It even shoots to the same point of aim as the original, so I didnt even have to fiddle with the front sight.
drop in fit on two different bhp's
I have used this barrel in two different BHP's and used both with a rental suppressor at the local range. Unsure of the accuracy as I was unable to use the sights due to the height of the suppressor - but it was fun!! I did not note any great change in accuracy between the original and the threaded barrel without the suppressor.
Will not fit Springfield SA-35
This barrel is nicely machined and finished. However, I purchased it hoping it would fit the new Springfield SA-35. The barrel is too long and no matter what way you try, there is no way for it to drop into the SA-35's slide. Though I contemplated cutting the threads further back and then trimming and re-crowning, a previous reviewer noted the extreme hardness of the metal which convinced me to just get my money back through a return. Would have love to use this nicely made barrel but if you've got an SA-35, don't bother buying. Attached photo details the length difference which perplexes me since the barrel could have easily been made shorter in the first place.
Does not fit Belgian Browning MK3
Things that are nice is good finish, nice threads, looks well machined. Things not so great, is its totally useless, as it simply won't fit in a Belgian factory MK3 hi power 9mm. Sending it back
Not all it's cracked up to be.
Fitting must be done with stones; metal is so hard a file will only slide over it. Ramp is very steep; causes smoke stack with some cartridges. Some NATO ammo will jam the bullet into the lands of the barrel.
Be careful
The barrel was a drop in fit in a 1976 vintage pistol. Accuracy was fine until a suppressor was threaded on. Point of impact changed dramatically. When I checked the suppressor I found evidence of baffle strikes. The barrel has no shoulder for the suppressor to square up with so the can may not be aligned. Unless you have a suppressor adapter that squares up with the face/end of the barrel forget using this product. Just glad I didn't do more damage. Probably fine for use with some type of muzzle brake.
