Extractor
Appears well made. Much tighter tolerances than the cheap ones. Unfortunately it did not work and i will need to try another way. Am pleased nonetheless.

Added to my range tool kit
Saw a competitor lose a match because of a broken shell. Never expected to see that with 30-06, (but I shoot a lot of US and foreign surplus ammo), so I decided I needed to be ready if I had that issue.

broken shell extractor
Have not had to use yet but looks like it will work real good.
Need to revise my earlier review
After letting the stuck case soak in Breakfree for a couple of months the tool extracted the case on the first try. It worked fine. I’m very pleased.
Works well, well designed
Nothing is so bad as the broken shell in a match, well may be a stuck bullet and an action full of powder. This works well. I am not a proponent of using the bolt wiht this to extract so I engage the device and use a drop rod on the tip. Works well.

This DOES work with 22lr
I had a broken 22lr casing stuck in a Ruger Mark II pistol. I tried the reverse bore brush method using several brushes as large as 30 cal, even stainless steel, but they all slipped out without budging the case. I was about to try the cerrosafe chamber casting method, when I saw this device. I read several questions about using it on 22lr, and even submitted one myself describing how I would use it. All of them were answered by Brownell's experts saying categorically that it will not work with 22lr. Given the configuration of the tool and the miniscule difference in diameter between 22lr and .223, I saw nor reason why it shouldn't work, so I bought one and tried it. I can categorically say that it ABSOLUTELY DOES WORK WITH 22LR. I simply separated the tip of the tool from the body, inserted the tip into the breech end of the chamber, and pushed it gently through the stuck case until the claws clicked in place over the case mouth. Then I inserted a brass rod from the muzzle and gave it a few taps. The casing popped right out. I checked the barrel and chamber with a borescope and found no sign of scratching or other damage.
Worked Great!
I had a 5.56mm round break off in my VZ 58 chambered in 5.56mm. This tool took it out simply and easily. Buy it and stick it in your range bag.
super!! works like a charm
works great, had to play with it a bit to figure out how to work it. amazing to fix the problem
