BRN-22 STRIPPED RECEIVER FOR RUGER® 10/22®

BRN-22 STRIPPED RECEIVER FOR RUGER® 10/22® Reviews & Ratings

The Brownells BRN-22 Receiver is ready to be the foundation of your custom rimfire rifle build. Each BRN-22 receiver is precision-machined from 6061 aluminum billet to exacting tolerances. Why machined instead of forged, like most commercial receivers? All you need to do is look inside at the smooth, clean interior to realize that a machined receiver can be held to much tighter tolerances for a precise fit with other parts. After machining, BRN-22 receivers get a tough matte black Type 2 hardcoat anodized finish (like the finishes found on many AR-15 receivers). There’s even a pre-drilled cleaning rod hole at the rear of each Brownells BRN-22 receiver for easy cleaning of the bore from the chamber, the PROPER way to prevent a cleaning rod from damage to the muzzle crown that can compromise accuracy.

  • Stripped receiver ONLY
  • Comes with V block and screws
  • Machined from high-grade 6061 T6 aluminum billet
  • Durable matte black hardcoat anodized finish or clear anodized finish
  • Compatible with OEM Ruger® 10/22® components
  • Cleaning rod access hole at rear
  • Barrel and receiver sold separately

The Railed BRN-22R has an integral 0 MOA Picatinny top rail for extra security and versatility in scope mounting. The Smooth version has mounting holes that will work with standard Ruger® 10/22® scope rails.

Due to varying dimensions in aftermarket and some older factory aluminum trigger housings, fitting may be required.

The BRN-22 receivers are designed to work in conjunction with Ruger® 10/22® OEM bolts, and as such may not work with all aftermarket bolts.

Ruger 10/22 Stripped Receiver
Product: The receivers (I bought 5) came exactly like I needed them to be. However, upon placing the bolt and charging handle into the receiver and then attaching them to the trigger assembly the bolt has a hard time charging and will not release all the way to the barrell entry. It is like the groove for the bolt slide did not get milled long or deep enough.
Would you recommend this? Yes, I would recommend to a friend

Disappointing Finish
The reciever fit was very goid everything was easy to install, bolt, barrel, scope...but the finish while perfect when recieved did not hold up. While installing the trigger cross pins, and bolt buffer stop marks became apparent and permanent even when taking care. Also after shooting and cleaning, which required removing the receiver from the stock othe wear marks become apparent. I did take notice that the finish is not stated to be "Hard Coated" but it is not holding up.

Mixed Feelings
This was my first rifle build and the brownells bolt and receiver cycled very well for a new gun. Only a couple failures to cycle and I was using junk thunderbolt ammunition. After 2 mags and she was cycling like a charm. I got the receiver with rail. I had a spare quick disconnect vortex AMG UH-1 (gen 1) optic that I wanted to put on the gun. The rail is too low to the rest of the receiver to allow the quick disconnect to rotate on the rail. My conclusion is that the rail is probably a little bit too low on the receiver. I had to settle for traditional rings. I got a fedderson barrel and it did not have an interference fit. I believe that heating the receiver and chilling the barrel for an interference fit can be desireable. Ultimately, I am greatful for the opportunity to build this rifle, but brownells has the room for improvement with this product.

I don't like the finish texture
If I had known about the finish I would have passed. I got the natural silver finish. It is very rough like it was blasted with a agressive media. It feels like 400 to 600 grit sand paper.

Meh.
Quality looks good, but the Brownells bolt doesn’t fit the receiver at all!!

10-22 Build
After watching the custom built 10-22 videos, I wanted to buy the components needed to build my own custom 10-22. But, I was disappointed by the fact that all to 10-22 parts bundles offered were out of stock. I did catch the Brownell’s 10-22 receiver on sale. Disappointed that I could not purchase all components at the same time.

Trigger fitting req’d; understatement!
Bolt would not move at all. 30hrs later still binding .030 out of battery. Maybe another 10hrs ? Tolerances are too tight in my opinion. Receiver finish a bit disappointing
3
Not good for suppression.
Fit and finish are quality. Had zero issues with fit with my build. The only negative is the hole in the rear, directly rear of the bolt. Not sure why it’s there but it allows a lot of gas to the face when shooting with a suppressor.
3
Slight let down
Nice receiver, but required gunsmithing to fit a barrel
3
Finish not that nice
For a machined piece the overall finish is rough. Required minor trimming because it is not an exact original piece.
