BRN-180M BILLET LOWER RECEIVER Reviews & Ratings

The Brownells BRN-180M® Lower Receiver is specifically designed to pair up with the BRN-180® Upper Receivers to maximize the full potential of this unique line.

While designed to be fully compatible with Mil-Spec lower receiver parts and triggers the BRN-180M® Lower Receiver does away with the traditional receiver extension threads and in their place has a milled in 1913 Picatinny rail section for mounting of Sig Sauer® MCX style stocks.

This Lower Receiver is made from billet 7075 T-6 aluminum with a hard-anodized finish, has integral oversized trigger guard, and the unique features of a threaded bolt catch pin and captive set screw for the takedown pin detent spring, both included.

Due to the proprietary design nature of the BRN-180M® Lower Receiver it will not function with standard AR-15 upper receivers.

Very nice!

This lower is far superior to Brownells' 'forged BRN-180 lower' which has significant quality control issues. The fit and finish on the billet receiver are excellent. You will have to cut coils from a couple of springs to get everything to fit, but it is well worth the price.

Great companion lower to BRN-180 upper!

Bought this after I ran my BRN-180 upper on a standard AR-15 lower receiver. While the AR-15 lower was fine, I wanted this lower for the folding stock capability and to match the BRN-180 upper. This lower is well crafted and a perfect complement to your BRN-180 upper. It's tough and accepts AR-15 LPKs. If you run a BRN-180 upper on a standard AR-15 lower, consider switching it to this lower.

Warning...

So far this appears to be a great piece. The uppers aren't available. So more to follow i guess... WARNING: You need an extremely tiny allen wrench to install your rear takedown pin (so small you'd think it was round, not hex). Every set on the market starts at around 1.5. This requires a .050 (So i was told. I pick up my .050 today, so if the brownells armorer was incorrect, I'll update here and let you know). They should really just include the allen wrench since it is a specialty size. Next, they also have a retainer where the bolt catch is installed. That one is the next size up.

READ THIS AND SAVE SOME TIME

I read the other reviews here, and I'll add my 2. This is clearly not a traditional AR-180 receiver, so if you want a look-alike go elswhere. If you want a rifle that works, this lower will do very well. Several of the other reviews indicated fit and finish issues. I had none. Everything fit perfectly, and I really like the threaded pin for the bolt hold-open. As for the take-down pin detent spring set screw, you don't need it, so throw it away. That has the effect of shortening the spring, as others have indicated needing to do, and making installation a lot easier, because you won't waste time looking for the screw after it inevitably goes flying across the room. Just let the pistol grip hold it in place like the buttstock does on an AR-15 lower. You're already doing that with the safety detent spring, anyway.

Well built

Well built lower, we installed a trigger and parts kit from Brownells along with the upper. No issues with the build, it all fit together very well.

Initial use and feel are perfect. Better than I had expected.

Excellent Quality

Ive built a dozen or so milspec ARs and this lower is clearly a cut above. It came in beautiful, flawless condition and built like a tank. Aside from the pic rail, it has additional unique/ingenious design features that make it the perfect lower for any BRN180 pistol build. Installation of the strike industries enhanced LPK was a breeze. Now if someone just had a folding brace in stock I could finish my dream gun.
