Gen 2.5!
Always wanted a BRN 180 but was waiting for a Gen 3 with an improved steel cam path rail like they put on their (now discontinued) 300 Legend model. Saw the Gen 3 was out but then I saw some of the other changes and reviews and said nope. Then I found out Brownells now had Gen 2’s with the improved rail. Called Brownells and verified these were the versions on sale and purchased one that day. I now have around 300 rounds through it (unsuppressed only) with all types of ammo and it has been flawless! I am so happy with my purchase. Plan on shooting this a lot. Just bought a spare bolt and will pick up some spare springs as soon as they are back in stock.

BRN-180 Complete Upper Assembly
My new favorite AR configuration. Mounts to my Sharps Bros. Lower easey-peasy and topped with a 1-4 LPVO; looking forward to a little warmer weather so's I can go dial it in. Thanks for the coupons. Doubt I could've built it without them.

BRN-180 Gen 2 - Worthy upgrade of the original
An AR-180 it is not. However, it is so much better and is likely what it would have become in time. Having sold my own AR-180 about a lifetime ago has not diminished my memories of the rifle's deficiencies - in fact, I wish I still had it just for the "cool" factor despite what is now considered a deficiency.
The BRN-180 had it's first range session this morning with a fair amount of ammo expended. Not a single malfunction nor loss of accuracy. There is only 1 criticism and the fix for that is on my "notify me" list: the supplied charging handle dings cases. Doesn't affect function and is not relevant since I don't reload that caliber.
I used a standard AR-15 lower since I don't plan on a folding stock and prefer the carbine-type stock to adjust for different shooters. It works and the set-up is the best of both worlds for my purposes. The handguard is a bit difficult to remove but so are many of those fitted to traditional AR-15s so no harm-no foul.
While the BRN-180 is not my overall favorite rifle (I'm a 7.62x51 fan) it is now my favorite in this class. I would not hesitate to recommend to any shooter who wants an alternative to the AR-15's constantly nasty receiver and the feel of a subjectively better recoil impulse.

I’m in love
Built out a Brn180 10.5” wylde using the brn180 billet lower snd couldn’t be happier. Soft shooting zero issues or malfunctions eats all ammo. Get lots of compliments at the range even from the range masters
BRN180
Simple and effective upgrade to any AR15 platform. There is no need for a buffer tube and spring in the stock. The use of large optics does not interfere with the ability to cycle the action due to the charging handle being on the side of the action.
Best way to build your AR-180
Gene Stoner would approve of this grandson of his AR-16 design. I have only two minor quibbles with this. 1. I’m not a fan of miles of Picatinny rail that I will never use. 2. I much prefer a carbon fiber handguard when it’s available, and I can afford it. Otherwise, this is a great alternative to Stoner’s AR-15 design.
Awesome upper
What a quality product- can’t wait to see what it can do!
Everything I expected
It matched up perfectly with the lower and ran reliably immediately. Accuracy was good.
Great upper
Great upper. Very light recoil, shoots very accurately out to 500 yards.
Thin, light and smooth
Very pleased with this one! If you're in the market for an incredibly light semi-auto AR-style rifle, this one is it. It feels incredibly spry in my hands, and is incredibly easy to point. The lightweight barrel and the tiny bolt make this feel almost airsoft levels of lightweight, without feeling like it's made of Zamak / pot metal. I paired this with a lower I designed and printed myself, but any pic rail AR lower or even regular AR lower goes great with this setup. Even with the 18" model, the weight unloaded feels more comparable to a large-form handgun than a rifle. For anyone other than those looking to "modify" it, or people who want a forced-reset or "Super Safety Trigger" (seeing as the bottom of the receiver is shrouded to prevent anything from existing on either side of the hammer), this is an absolutely easy choice. I would take this over a standard AR upper any day.
