BRN-10 PORTUGESE MID-LENGTH HANDGUARD, NO HEAT SHIELD

BRN-10 PORTUGESE MID-LENGTH HANDGUARD, NO HEAT SHIELD Reviews & Ratings

All right, you asked for it, so here it is: Brownells now offers a Portuguese-pattern, mid-length handguard that fits its retro reproductions of the original AR-10. The handguard features a round handguard cap and is available with an all-black finish only. The two-piece design, however, doesn't include any heat shields and are molded from polymer. Those looking to build a Portuguese-style BRN-10 clone now have an option with this awesome offering, though, available only through Brownells.

Suited the purpose well
Great for the price, worked perfectly for a .22LR AR15 build. Lack of heatshields is a nonissue w/22
Would you recommend this? Yes, I would recommend to a friend

The handguard for a BRN10 carbine.
I used these handguards on a BRN10 carbine build using the 16in barrel. With a little creativity, you can paint them to resemble the original Armalite furniture. They are unlined, so watch those mags dumps.

BRN-10 PORTUGESE ML HANDGUARD BLACK
I've purchased 2 of these for a couple of .308 AR's I have. Both installed without issue. However, both firearms have the round front handguard retainer. I don't know if they will work with the triangular retainer. They seem to be well made out of a relatively thick plastic. I'll have to see if the lack of heat shield causes problems.

It does fit a Mid-length AR-15
I used this on a retro build a few days ago. There has been some question to whether this will fit on the AR-15. It does fit very nicely on an AR-15 midlength gas system barrel with the delta ring and round front cap. I did have to file in two small divots to match the round guard cap which was very easy work and then it snapped right in place. I would however recommend using a delta ring tool to install as the fit is very tight and required an authoritative smack with the palm to seat. My pic included shows a faux bakelite finish that I applied

Nice quality, not sure what they fit
Just like the title, nice quality, but I guess they are a custom fit thing. Will NOT work with a original Portuguese AR10, bit to long. I really don't know what they would drop into, but might find a use for them someday. Again, nice build quality on them though.

What I wanted but....
I am a portuguese firearms collector and this is what I been wanting for my brn10. I am disappointed they haven't made a front metal heat shield for this yet. I bought and am happy but going wait for proper piece to go with it or even make my own.

Look Nice but wrong size for Mid-Length
They look great but do not fit my BRN-10 with a 16 in Mid-Length. I swapped my 20 in for the 16". These will not fit Brownells parts oddly enough so I was disappointed with the significant amount of fitting that had to be done as they are approx 3/8" too long to fit? Lots of careful removing of material with dremel, file and sandpaper had to shorten them and adjust accordingly. Odd they wouldn't make this so it fits easily. I miss the BRN-10 parts line wish they would come back and add some more parts. Even though the part isn't great its nice Brownells caters to retro crowd.

Does NOT work with STD round caps
These are styled after the Portugese style shortened handguards that have heat shields that extend forward to the front sight and fit partially underneath the handguards. Perhaps these were intended to be used with retro Portugese contract style extended heat shields for an upcoming retro BRN-10; however, if using for a mid-length build, Be prepared to notch these handguards at 3 o'clock and 9 o'clock with a file to fit standard commercially available round handguard caps like 231-000-124 as they do not fit the timing detents in the handguard caps at those locations. I was disappointed in these.
