Shank is very short

Bought this to clean a .177 air rifle. The threaded shank is only 1/8" - 3/16" long. When used with my Outer's cleaning rod I can get maybe 1 or 2 threads to actually engage. I did not try to use it for fear it would simply snap off in the end of the rod. The shank should be at least twice as long.
