Steel instead of plastic
This Wilson part is just the ticket to replace the polymer guide rod in the Beretta 92.

Outstanding replacement
I don't know why Beretta chose to skimp on the guide rod on the M9A3, but they did and the plastic rod felt flimsy. I did a quick search online and found Wilson Combat's guide rod replacement and, knowing WC's reputation, this was a no brainer.

Really nice and easy upgrade
This is a very nicely made guide rod and looks great too. Drastically nicer than the plastic one or even the factory metal one.

Remove that ticking timebomb of plastic
I cant fathom why a big manufacturer would want to put a plastic rod in their gun. Maybe its there to reduce cost and boost parts sale. Regardless, put this in my 92fs, adda slight weight to the front end of the gun. OEM recoil spring slid right over without any fitment issue. Adds a little personal touch to the gun s well with thr fluted machining

Steel Replacement for a Plastic part
Replaced the captured recoil assembly... not that it was necessary, just for aesthetics. Wilson makes quality parts, so why not. Purely an aesthetic upgrade, not a functional requirement.

92/96 Full Size Guide Rod
Install was a breeze, replaced my original steel guide rod in my 96FS with this Wilson fluted guide rod, Wilson recoil spring, and 16lb Wilson Hammer Spring. The fluted rod is supposed to hold lube in the grooves longer than the stock rod. If you can field strip your Beretta 92/96 then you can put this right in! You won't regret it! :)

Just for kicks . . .
So, it is not a needed part. But - I grew up with steel/metal guns. Even though I love Glocks, Beretta was a metal gun when it was introduced, so it deserves metal parts. I purchased a regular Beretta 92FS recoil spring and this WC recoil guide rod and it works great. About 350 rounds with this set up, NO hiccups, ZERO! I did not install any bushing on the front end of the spring/slide assembly and it works perfectly.

Nice Factory Replacement
Bought this guide rod to replace the factory polymer rod in my 92FS. Recoil is not immensely different, but with a full-sized 9mm, recoil isn't really a problem. The peace of mind from having a quality steel rod instead of a plastic rod in my CCW is well worth the price to me. Also, the spiral fluting is a nice touch.

Requires bushing to fit 90-Two properly
The Wilson Combat recoil guide rod is nicely manufactured and appears to be very tough. I bought this steel guide rod to replace my 90-Two's original captive spring assembly that utilizes a plastic guide rod. However, to make this steel guide rod fit the 90-Two slide's larger diameter recoil lug hole correctly, I had to purchase separately a Beretta Recoil Spring Guide Rod Washer (Brownell's Part No. 913-100-586WB). Of course, a standard Beretta 92 Series Full Size recoil spring is also required.
