Viper Barrell Vise

Quality components fit precisely. Worked well on holding an M24 barrel to remove a brake. No slippage no damage to barrel. Used blue painter’s masking tape inside very the vise
Versatility
Received barrel vise in great condition, wrapped in bubble wrap several times. Simple design and built for strength to properly hold firearm barrels securely. The base is drilled so that it may be moved if necessary and re-anchored.I use a torque wrench to torque each holding bolt equally and securely. Not cheap but it's well made and sturdy, I recommend it for both gunsmithing and mechanic work.
Perfect Barrel Vise for Occasional Barrel Changes
This will be perfect for what I am doing without the need to buy multiple bushings. It is very well made and will work with a lot of barrels.
Viper barrel vise
I purchased a "Remage" barrel / nut to replace my OEM Remington 700 .223 barrel. I mounted the Viper barrel vise to a "Black & Decker" workmate bench which I added a 5/8" thick MDF work surface. Makes for a solid surface to mount multiple tools. The Viper vise, along with a brownells Rem. action wrench, made an otherwise difficult task an easy one. The vise held the barrel while I applied 80-100 lbs. of torque to loosen it from the receiver. For the money you really can't do better for a barrel vise. I fabricated aluminum shims from roofing flashing material I acquired at my local building supply store. Prevented any marring of the finish on the old and new barrel. I highly recommend the Viper barrel vise. Remington's are known for their barrels being difficult to loosen. The Viper barrel vise made that manageable. My new 1:7 twist barrel is a tack driver with custom reloads.
As Advertised
I had been fighting an old M98 made in 1936. Some rust had been an issue in the threads as I found out. I had soaked the action in Kroil and SeaFoam for weeks and the barrel still wouldn't break loose. Got this vise yesterday, and it popped right off. At first I thought the action may have cracked, but no, everything came apart as it should, nothing damaged. i did use some rosin in the vice ways, and the barrel held tight. Wonderful addition to the bench.
