BARREL VISES W/ BUSHINGS

BARREL VISES W/ BUSHINGS Reviews & Ratings

To complement our “Ring-Of-Steel” Action Wrench System, we’ve developed the only professional-quality Barrel Vise that will positively clamp and keep even the tightest barrel from turning during removal. Machined from solid steel for durability to service the barrel installation and removal needs of any gunsmith for years and years. Our exclusive four bolt system and extra-wide design generates so much holding force, the Brownells Barrel Vise must be firmly bolted to the stoutest bench or an immovable base to realize its full potential. Split barrel bushings come in a variety of sizes to fit many popular barrels (and some not-so-common ones) to make this universal Barrel Vise system the very first choice of professional gunsmiths. Steel Bushings provide years of service and have the necessary clamping power to break loose the tightest barrels. Aluminum Bushings also give a strong hold without risk of marring your barrel.

Fits my barrel nice
Fits tightly and perfecly on my barrel. No damage or scratches. Highly recomend using the proper barrel bushings in a good barrel vice.

Worked perfectly.
After many failures of removing the barrel off of the 1903-A3 using other brand vise, decided to give this a try instead of sending it to a gunsmith. Shipping was super fast. Once cinched the vise onto the barreled action. The receiver came undone with ease with the help of an extension metal tube on the action wrench. The bushing gripped the barrel like an ex wife latches on alimony and child support. I should have purchased this long ago.

Gets the job done
This vice and inserts fit GI profile Garand barrels like a glove. It didn't leave noticeable marks on any of the barrels. Didn't have any slipping during removal or installation, The bushings locked the barrel in tight and stayed put in the vice.. Its the right tool for the job

Barrel Vise
Excellent workmanship, inserts fit vise correctly and were properly machined and finished to fit barrel without marking up the barrel finish.

Brownells gun vise
Worked well when removing the barrel from my Tikka t3. I wrapped a piece of dry wall tape around the barrel before putting it in the vise. Attached a Wheeler #1 action wrench to the action. The barrel initially was spinning in the vise but stopped spinning after I tightened the bolts more on the vise. I hit the action wrench with a 4 pound dead blow hammer and the action unscrewed from the barrel. Did not scratch the barrel. Glad I got this barrel vise and first time ever using one.

Great Vice
That barrel vice is great. It makes removing and installing a barrel much easier than the smaller, homemade vice, I have been using for years. Even though I don't change that many barrels I wish I had bought that vice years ago.

Perfect Barrel Vice
This thing is wicked good. Nice and heavy and mounted to something big and it really shines. Used it to pull a barrel on a mini 14 first. But can't wait to start using it to re-barrel and build custom rifles. Not bad for just over $100.00.

Amazing Tool!
I had an M98 Mauser made in 1916 sitting at a local gunsmith's shop for a year. He told me that he couldn't get the barrel off. I was heart broken as I had wanted to build a custom gun on the action. Taking matters into my hands I ordered the Brownell's Barrel Vise and an action wrench for a Mauser. The hardest part was altering my work bench to mount the vise. After following all the instructions and securing the barrel into the vise and putting on the action wrench on the receiver I hesitated for a few seconds. Picking up a mallet I gave the wrench handle a good wack. One blow and the receiver turned! It was loose after 104 years. Thanks Brownell's for having the right tools to get a job done.

Super strong, holds barrels tight
We've been using these vises daily at our shop for over 25 years. With proper barrel bushings, you can hold and break loose ANY barrel., We've even taken off old Mauser military barrels, that broke at 1200 ft/lbs of torque, without damage to the receiver or action. We also use the Brownells action wrenches. The only downside is that the vise is a little slower to use as there are 4 screws to tighten or remove. Conversely, this is why the vise will hold any barrel without slipping. Traction on polished barrels is increased by wrapping the barrel with a post-it note where the bushings grip. We have used and put aside several other makes of vises, As this vise is the best.

Barrel Vise with #7 Alum. Bushing I.D. 1
A little pricey but worth every penny. Fit and worked perfectly, didn't even slip, no rosin powder or shims of any kind needed.
